Still Can't Breathe, Pointless Surgery

Yup, the surgery didn't work. I wish the person driving me to the appointment told me this earlier but the nurses were saying "he's a great surgeon have you seen all of the good reviews?" ehhhh... no better way to draw suspicion to good reviews and lackluster work.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. I am actually scheduled to consult with him this month for a complicated revision surgery, which would include rib and ear, that I was hoping to do in Boston. I was originally scheduled with Dr. Le in Baltimore but had to cancel as I cannot leave my foster daughters for two weeks so looking for a close alternative. i'm now rethinking this and wondering if I should just find a way to make it happen. Any feedback you can offer would be appreciated.
Oh, and what did the person who drove you to surgery know that they didn't share?
I can say that he seems to only know the rib graft method which usually means making the nose bigger, he seems more like someone who fixes trauma to the nose rather than performing aesthetically pleasing work so I don't want to say too much because you may be looking to repair something rather than revising for beauty purposes BUT I can say he is not a nice person and he does try to sell people on surgery they don't need which is usually a surgeon red flag
and the person who drove me was approached by his staff they kept asking if she saw his reviews online and how he has only 5 star reviews, looking back along with the fact that his students were acting like salesman on the consult, this would have been more vital to my decision of choosing him as a surgeon because I've already been suspicious of the good reviews all containing the same wording and no photos
You make an excellent point. I went in for a revision rhinoplasty after reading all of his reviews and I can say it was a horrible experience. He did a rib graft and ruined the overall aesthetic of my nose. He also had a bunch or residents come into my appointments without asking.
I'm so sorry that happened to you, I just read your review and yes he tried to sell me on a revision but for $11000. I refused and told him I just want the septoplasty to fix my breathing (the reason I was seeing him in the first place) On the day of the surgery I heard his nurses keep mentioning prepping for a rib graft. After the surgery I saw he was pre-approved by my insurance to reconstruct my nose cosmetically and he tried to charge them for that. By the grace of whatever powers exist he decided to just do a septoplasty with laser instead of opening the nose which I could hear everyone scrambling last minute about how they're changing the plan. Apparently he was planning on fixing my nose anyways the way he wanted as he told me before that "I don't like you nose"... problem is we never consulted about anything cosmetic nor did I give him permission to do cosmetic surgery. So he was gonna use a rib graft on my nose when I thought I was just getting a deviated septum fixed ! I just can't believe this guy hasn't had his license taken away.. I reported him to my insurance for fraud but I think they just let his assistant change the input instead of penalizing him.

Septoplasty Made Nostrils More Crooked

It's been 3 weeks since the operation and I just took a picture of my nostrils and the front view of my nose to compare to the pics I took before surgery (something about him gave me a feeling that I should be cautious and take pics) and without a doubt it's even more crooked than before the surgery !!! I'm honestly livid, it's one thing that he didn't fix the crookedness after insurance approved him to (I checked my insurance and he did indeed still get paid for this work that he didn't perform) but it's another thing to make my nose EVEN MORE crooked ! And also I can't breathe any better out of that side it still feels blocked... so it's just been a painful and aesthetically detrimental experience for nothing which really sucks..

I had revision rhinoplasty with him and it made my nose larger and more crooked :( I look at myself everyday and feel horrible.
ORIGINAL POST

Sketchy..

I met with this doctor to finally correct a deviated septum I've had for a few years, immediately upon entering the room the Ezzat started analyzing my face like someone would look at an art exhibit in museum. The first words out of his mouth were "are you happy with the that nose, the shape?"... he also brought in two students without asking or warning me first, which made this question even more embarrassing.
I wouldn't be upset if he pulled these antics had I been someone coming in for a consultation for plastic surgery, but I was a patient referred from my primary care for a deviated septum. He insisted many times for me to consider getting cosmetic rhinoplasty, I kept insisting I was ok with the shape and just needed to fix the breathing. He then told me that it would be an easier and more successful surgery to fix my breathing if I went the cosmetic route which would allow him to open my nose up fully. I told him I would think about it but then ultimately it would come down to if I can afford it. He then asked me to come back in for pictures for my insurance regardless.
I went in for pictures he had 2 nurses in the room again who were trying to convince me to go for a nose job like a sales pitch. He began the pictures and right off the bat he started again "are you ok with that scar on your face?"... I paused for a second and realized he was talking about a chicken pox mark I had on my face almost my whole life. Once again I insisted I am fine with it, he took the pictures I went on my way. I ultimately decided not to get cosmetic work with him as I couldn't afford it (being my excuse), his assistant tried to convince me a few times and I told her flat out I didn't have the finances. She wrote back in a few days saying she spoke to the doctor and that he wanted to do the surgery to just correct my deviated septum (what I originally came in for) and I stupidly agreed. My insurance approved him to reconstruct my nose, meaning he was supposed to also straighten the nose externally that played a factor in the deviation.
The day of the surgery he entered the room to speak to me right before I was about to be put to sleep, the first things he said is he knows for a fact I'm going to have a cosmetic nose job so he wants to go with the less effective method for a Septoplasty, one he discussed as having a higher rate of leaving my septum perforated versus the initial route he had planned which was more of a reconstructive approach. I suspect he thought if he performed the initial surgery that included straightening my nose that it would make me less likely to want to come back and have a nose job done by him.
He then said 3 times outright that he did not like my nose and that he knew I was going to get a nose job, I kept telling him I don't mind my nose and do not plan on getting a nose job and he ended with "no I know you will" so we will do the less invasive surgery to keep the tissues in tact for when you get a nose job. I feel like there are no positives to speak on for him, he ended the meeting saying if this method didn't work I could come back for the whole "shabang" (a rhinoplasty & septoplasty combined). Not very re-assuring to hear right before surgery with him.
At this point I was already papers signed and fully gowned and prepped for surgery so I made the decision to proceed against my better judgement. I would tell anyone seeking a good surgeon to take my advice and go to someone who cares about properly fixing your problems and doesn't just see clients as walking dollar signs to berate until they feel insecure enough to pay for plastic surgery.
I will update to let you know if the surgery actually worked, I'm not hopeful.

That sounds like a horrible experience, so sorry you went through that right before surgery. I have an appointment with him for a consultation. He really does good work and I am going for the whole shabang. I hope what he did for you helps.
Good luck, not sure what you consider "really good work" although I did just see on your page that you said you're going to another doctor for your revision so that's funny.. best of luck whoever this is
Having multiple consultations, haven't made a decision yet. Hope your feeling better!
