Biofilm from Voluma
WORTH IT$1,700
I was injected again with Voluma after this incident that many Doctors including the original Doctor who is now deceased said was not biofilm. It is. Allergan is aware of many high profile cases regarding biofilm many treated by also deceased Dr. Brandt who was a high volume injecter to the stars & alerted Allergan that there is an issue with Voluma. Because I was unaware that Voluma can activate and also contains a Biofilm, I unknowingly had a nurse injector inject Voluma again-because so many Doctors told me that my Abscesses were in no way from Voluma.
There are many reasons for this: Doctor may just not be aware, Doctor or nurse injector/trainer has signed a contract with Allergan stating they will not speak against Allergan product & other reasons of financial ties to Allergan.
I could not find anyone to help me or treat this awful disfiguring looking abscesses until this week. Dr. Katherine Durboraw, MD Double boarded ocular plastic surgeon & ENT had seen many cases and has been a godsend to me. She will not use Voluma or the newer Vobella because of biofilm contained in the product. Likely no one else wanted to take the liability of taking care of my face when someone else injected it. A nurse injector without a board-certified plastic surgeon medical director is not in any place to treat something of the severity of biofilm & abscesses associated with.
I have begun treatment of seeing her every other day for three appointments flooding the area with Hyluranidase (human derived) she injected into the lesions and around the periphery of where the Voluma was injected. She also drained the abscesses. Cultures are almost always negative because they cannot pick up on biofilm. Labs that do are cost prohibitive. I am the fourth person to be included in a study on this problem. Antibiotics are ineffective-They cannot break through the Biofilm. I will be seeing her in a month when she flies back into Phoenix. I will need fat grafting in the future for the damage and asymmetry.
I had a blue husky hue at one point that too many Derms and plastic surgeons to mention blew off. This is not an isolated incident. After my 1st appointment, I saw a patient in the clinic I work at with a similar looking lesion I had. This is just the tip of the iceberg with this product.
Was this injection technique error? How many bad injectors have we had for years before this highly cross linked filler came to the states?
I had pain the next day after being injected by an RN without a plastic or Derm medical director. For seven months I suffered physically and emotionally as my face got worse month after month. I felt low grade ill for 7 plus months. I work in a medical clinic as a functional medicine lifestyle educator and having my face look like this has been devastating personally and professionally.
Allergan needs to do the right thing and admit like they have with the high-profile celebrities they paid to be quiet that there IS biofilm in Voluma & Vobella.
Be informed! Knowledge is power. I did not have issues with "abscesses" until I started to use Voluma. I had use other filler without incident.
My face is now not symmetrical. We are watching the other side as it is "quiet" of course I cannot inject any filler as it may activate Biofilm with any filler as just a few can travel and hide into the new filler as their house.
Yes, Voluma gives beautiful results but latent reactions are very common and the end result can leave you worse off then if you never did it.

I'm pretty thin so I a concerned with loss of volume in my face. I had read that Voluma was so good for mid facial volume loss. I wanted to have my old cheeks back. I had Dr. Steven Gitt, of North Valley Plastic Surgery in Scottsdale do 2 syringes of Voluma mainly to my cheeks. It literally took less than 5 minutes. You can see the results immediately but the great thing is that it seems to mold to your face and look so natural. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I had the tiniest bruise you could harldy see and not much swelling at all. What I love about Voluma is that gives your whole face a lift! Cheeks are by far the biggest bang for your back in the quest for anti aging. Also, results can last up to 2 years. I also notices that it plumped out even my crows feet a bit and even lifts up your nasiolabial folds too. You REALLY want to go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, which Dr. Gitt is so that the Voluma is injected in the Proper place! Thumbs up big time on this one! This is something I would love to keep up with! It is definitely worth the cost.

Two syringes is not going to last you two years -- if it does please post photos, as this is an unfounded claim. It does work immediately but goes DOWN from there, does not remain the same!
I had one syringe last month and loved it...I want a little more. I really hope they adjust the cost if it only lasts one year.
I had it done in December. I loved it too. I had it done by a Dermatologist. I am going in next week to possibly have more put in. She only used 1 syringe for both cheeks. I believe it has gone down some nadiahoney since I had it done. I am not sure about the 2 year time frame. It doesn't seem realistic to me. I also had it done by a Board Certified Derm.
Looking at pic I think they may have gone down a bit. I thought it was I had another Doc treat my Crowsfeet and that has a downward pull on my cheek. Maybe some of both! I like to be topped off a bit-they were awesome when they were first done!
