With most things in my life, I’ve always been an early bloomer—my breasts being no exception, unfortunately. By the time I was entering high school, I was a 32D, which is pretty large for a five-foot-one freshman, right? Well, let’s fast-forward a couple of years. After having a child, I became stagnant at 36FFF (according to Lane Bryant). Being a FFF bra size was uncomfortable, brought some unwanted attention (I’ve never been one to seek attention, so it was all the more unwelcome), and made it difficult to find clothing that fit. Physically, my back was in continual pain, and I was forced to wear two sports bras to support my breasts when working-out, which was exceptionally awkward and remarkably sweaty. So, in a nutshell, making the decision to have a breast reduction and lift was a simple one; the hard part was finding a surgeon I could trust.

In looking for a surgeon, I visited a good number of offices. I didn’t want to feel like a hunk of meat on an assembly line, with dollar signs on my forehead. So, choosing Dr. Furnas was a no-brainer. I had three main factors that drew me to her:

1. She has stellar reviews (always important)!
2. She is very knowledgeable in her craft and has great credentials.
3. She has a great bedside manner. She listened to all my concerns, was realistic, and made me feel very relaxed when discussing or examining my breast, which I was extremely self-conscious of.

The day of my pre-op appointment arrived, and Dr. Furnas went over what would happen on the day of the surgery. I then received my prescriptions as well as a checklist of items I should have with me (a surgery checklist). Next, I spoke to the RN (very nice) who would be taking care of me in recovery, and she outlined what I could expect and took the “before” images.

The surgery went very well; there was little pain or bruising, which I was very surprised—and relieved—about. It’s now been five months, and I have no pain in my back. Also, I’m exceptionally pleased to report that my workouts no longer require two bras! My breasts are even and sit perkily from the lift, and the incisions are healing up nicely, no thickness to the scars at all. I couldn’t be more pleased with Dr. Furnas’s work.
Her office staff is very welcoming and helpful and the facility is beautiful. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Furnas to anyone looking to have a breast reduction or similar surgeries. She does great work and I am currently planning on returning to her to have my tummy tuck in less than a week!
