59 y.o. male 3 years post gastric sleeve surgery.
Needed abdomimoplasty, gynecomastia with skin tightening and extensive lipo. After several local consults, I received conflicting recommendations on the need for abdominal muscle plication and the need for skin tightening with gynecomastia procedure. I also did not want general anesthesia for a prolonged procedure. I found a surgeon with specialized training in weight loss plastic surgery. I opted for a surgeon in Mexico . I had gastric sleeve in Tijuana. Although the surgeon and hospital were US Board Certified and JCI approved, I opted against a return to Tijuana. I selected a very upscale and safe city, San Pedro Garza Garcia in Monterrey. Direct flight from home and picked up by the driver used by the Drs office. I traveled for a consult in December and was quite impressed with the surgeon, staff and facility. I booked the procedure for August 2017.
I went alone and stayed in a pleasant hotel across the street from the surgeon's office. Driver picked me up in the evening and the office manager, Toni met me at the hotel. She checked me in and made sure everything was in order.
I spent 12 days in San Pedro Garza Garcia and was seen at least once a day by the Dr or his nurse who was awesome and made sure I had everything I needed.
The day before surgery I met with Dr Munro Wilson, was taken for lab tests and was cleared for surgery by a cardiologist. The morning of surgery I met with the surgeon again as well as the anesthesiologist.
Surgery: extended abdominoplasty with liposuction, gynecomastia with skin tightening. The anesthesia was epidural and IV sedation. I spent 2 nites in the hospital and spent 8 or 9 nites at the hotel. So far so good! Results are excellent and I am back to normal activities. I will post updated photos and progress in the next month.
