Dr. Gayoso = THE BEST.
I can't put into words what a fantastic practice you are dealing with when you walk into Dr. Gayoso's office.
After having my first baby, I discovered, at 27-years-old, that I had Diastasis Recti (separation of my abdominal muscles). Never in my life did I think I'd be researching plastic surgeons, but after reading up on the details of DR, I quickly realized that a tummy tuck with muscle repair would be the only permanent fix for me. After my first baby, I could fit two fingers in between my abdominal wall. After my second baby, four fingers could fit in between my muscles. I have a very tiny frame, so this caused me to look pregnant every hour of every day. I woke up looking four months pregnant, and by the end of the day, I looked 6-7 months pregnant, not to mention that my belly button never popped back in (file that under 'things that no one tells you could happen when you get pregnant'). I was self-conscious. I didn't take my boys anywhere where bathing suits would be worn. I hid in my clothes. I literally felt like I was living in a stranger's body every time I looked in a mirror.
I decided before having our second baby that, when we were done having kids, I was going to get my body (and my confidence) back. When our second baby was 11-months-old, I began setting up consultations. I was looking to have my tummy tuck and muscle repair and decided, once I was done breastfeeding baby #2, to have modest implants done as well.
One of my first consults was with a very well known doctor in the Tampa area that I wouldn't have let operate on me for free. Here I was, making one of the biggest decisions in my life, and he couldn't get out of my consult fast enough. He was in the room maybe 5-minutes, at most, and never even asked if I had questions, let alone answer any of them. The entire time I spoke to him, he was reaching for his doorknob. I left that consult nearly in tears.
I spoke to another plastic surgeon who is a close friend. Even though I know he'd have taken good care of me, I didn't feel as if I'd walk away with the results I wanted.
Then, someone recommended that I talk to Dr. Gayoso...
Dr. Gayoso was amazing from the first time I stepped into his office. Our first consult lasted more than an hour. He talked to me about the procedures I was interested in. He educated me on how the surgery would go, what my outcome would be, and what I could expect on the road to recovery. His entire office is full of the best people. Everyone from Becky at the front desk to Tammy in the financial office knew my name and made me feel like they cared as much about my procedure and results as I did.
I knew immediately after the appointment that he was it. I found myself with a few additional questions that I'd forgotten to ask at the initial consult. Without any hesitation, he had me back in for a second consult that lasted about the same amount of time - and that officially sealed the deal. I booked my surgery date that day.
A few months later, my date came up, and surgery was amazing. Dr. Gayoso had given me a perfect outline of what to expect and his bedside manner (leading up to, and day-of) was pristine. Once we were home, my husband even commented on how comfortable Dr. Gayoso made him feel. It was as if my surgery was the most important thing he had going on that day.
Acting on his previous advice, I had the proper help setup around me at home, and Dr. Gayoso's office stayed on top of my recovery as well. I had a small seroma that they tended to several times a week until it was completely gone. Mind you, my surgery was 11 days before Christmas, and they had no problem making sure I was seen around the holidays to ensure that everything was healing properly.
Now, over six months later, I am so freaking happy with my results. I am thankful beyond words that I can go to the gym now and see the results from the work I put in (with my diastasis, this was impossible because of the damage to my abdominal wall). My boys and I go swimming, and I no longer hide in my clothes.
When you're researching plastic surgeons, remember, this is YOUR body - YOUR life - that you are looking to change. Don't just look for the cheapest price tag. Look for someone who genuinely cares about your results as much as you do. Someone who will answer all of your questions. Someone who, even after you've paid for your surgery, will provide the care and support that you need to have the absolute best recovery/results possible. Someone who will sit eye-to-eye and talk to you, instead of constantly reaching for the doorknob.
You'll find those things - and so much more - at Dr. Gayoso's office.
Dr. Gayoso truly changed my life and there aren't words to express how seriously thankful I am for him and his staff. <3
