4 weeks out and already obsessed with my new nose!

I didn’t out right hate my nose, but I was was never happy with it. It was always something in the back of my mind and anytime someone took a photo of me I would never fully smile because it made my nose look even bigger. Given the chance, it would always be the one thing I would change about myself but I was too scared to actually take any steps to make it happen.

At the age of 32, I finally took the time to become more self aware of what I truly wanted and started researching surgeons. As someone who’s a researcher by profession, I took this part very seriously and read every piece of information I could find. After reading academic research papers, hospital webpages, and countless reviews I decided to book a consult with Mr. Shandilya.

As this was a huge decision, I wanted a second opinion and I decided to bring my husband with me to the consult. We met with Mr. Shandilya for a full hour as he answered my long list of questions. We were impressed with how logical and experienced Mr. Shandilya was as he answered each. What really sold us on Mr. Shandilya was his minimalist approach to rhinoplasty. I wanted an outcome that still looked like my nose, but just a better version of it, and that’s exactly what he showed us in the morphed photos. Our jaws literally dropped because it was exactly how we pictured it in our heads. We were all on the same page from the start which I think is vital when choosing a surgeon so I was eager to book my second consultation and surgery.

I had watched many You Tube videos of people getting rhinoplasties and was expecting it to be very painful and to have two swollen black eyes. I was honestly shocked at how incredible the surgery and recovery were. I was very nervous heading to the hospital the morning of my surgery, but as soon as I arrived, I was put at ease by the incredible staff. Mr. Shandilya and the rest of the surgery team also put me at ease when I entered the operating room. It felt like I closed my eyes for a second and then I woke up in the recovery room (with zero pain!).

I was scared to be put under because I never had general anesthesia before, and in hindsight it’s funny that I was so scared because it wasn’t a bad experience at all. I spent one night after in Bon Secours and was well cared for. Mr. Shandilya visited me then as well and told me how the surgery went which I appreciated. The only uncomfortable part of my hospital stay for me was breathing through my mouth overnight because it made my throat quite dry so don’t expect to get the best sleep that night and bring some books etc.

The nurse took the packing out in the morning and I left with taping on my nose. Mr. Shandilya and a nurse removed my stitches and tape 6 days later and I was shocked to see that I had NO bruises. My nose was indeed swollen as to be expected but I could already see the improvements. I’m now on week 4 and obsessed with my new nose! The majority of swelling has gone (just a bit left on my bridge where it was shaven down) and I’m about to see Mr. Shandilya for my follow up appointment later today.

To those considering, I say go with your gut. If it’s something you wanted for a long time, you’ve weighed the risks, and you want a more natural result then I can’t recommend Mr. Shandilya enough!! My only regret is that I wish I had met him sooner.
