Quite Disappointing Experience

I want to share my experience with Dr. Volkan Kahya with you, because one year ago I was about to go crazy researching and choosing the doctor for my planned rhinoplasty in Istanbul. Reviews from real people are so important! It’s really not easy and a decision that changes your face, maybe your life for a lifetime! There are so many good surgeons in Istanbul. The reason why I choosed him, was I was really naive and too positive then. The first contact to his assistent was not very polite or nice, poor english as well. But I was okay with it, maybe she is very busy I thought. Dr Volkan had a very nice and stylish office, he was nice and funny during consultation, I felt fine. He did 3D simulation of my nose, but the 3D photograph of my face was very flat and not realistic. Still I trusted him, I thought he’s professionell and knows his job as I know mine. A few hours before operation he wrote me he swapped my operation time with another patient, I had to come to hospital earlier than usually planned. I was a bit afraid, my thought was “ I hope he does the right nose for the right patient...and does not swap it as well” . Anyways, I’m a strong woman, I planned it and I did it. After operation my mom was with me, that saved my life. I was sure Dr. Volkan will come to visit me for showing me pictures of the result and ask how I feel, but he did not. After looking in the mirror with cast for the first time (as you know it’s a quite huge swelling) I saw that the tip of my nose was even lower than before operation. I wished to have a higher one, he calls it “Barbie nose concept” . After taking the cast off after 7 days I was really sad. My nostrils were so small and thin that breathing was quite impossible, the tip of the nose was quite low and the bridge was very straight, no slope no curve, no “Barbie nose”. He told me it’s just the swelling, but it was my fault that I did not ask more questions. I was a little shy , felt uncomfortable after feeling ugly days after operation and not sure how to handle it. In the next months i wrote him some messages because my breathing after doing sports was really bad (I never had problems with my breath before!) . He told me to get to buy a nose retainer and that’s it. He and his assistent did not wrote back to my further messages. They ignored me. I was so disappointed, i never thought this could happen, i really thought he is a nice person. After being patient now for more than 10 months the shape of my nose and my breathing is not getting better. The nose tip is lower than before, I have no slope and even a little new hump on the bridge. When I smile the nose goes down.I can’t say I’m botched, but it was no good job and I’m disappointed because he told me before my nose is not complicated, no thick skin or something and that the result will be great. Maybe he had not enough time because of another patient waiting for his operation, but that can’t be an excuse! I am considering a revision in a few months, intensive research showed me there are much more professional surgeons, who ask more questions and really interested in my expectations and concerns. I will still visit Dr. Kahya for a check up, maybe he can tell me the reason for all this. I am really not a nasty person, I gave him chances to show up some interest and respect. I will tell you more after the check up with him in winter 2020.
