Worst mistake of my life. How Dr. Mehmet Dinc destroyed my nose and my mental health

've attached some photos with descriptions to give you a clearer idea of the issues I'm experiencing. Since the cast was removed, there has been no improvement in the shape of my nose—in fact, it's only become droopier. I can physically feel that the bone has been made too thick, and the tip is poorly done.

I've reached out to Dr. Dinc multiple times, but each time he replies with what seems to be a pre-written message—likely generated by ChatGPT—saying the nose is straighter than before, that he had to add significant volume to achieve that, and that he can't control thickness or shape because "a nose isn't playdough." Essentially, he's saying the outcome is a gamble.

This is completely different from what he told me just a few weeks ago when he claimed the issues were due to swelling. More recently, he even said my nose will resemble my original one, which is extremely disappointing—especially considering I underwent rhinoplasty specifically to improve its appearance.

At this point, I feel that Dr. Dinc cannot handle criticism and doesn't take accountability. I see no value in contacting him again. He continues to post on social media, showcasing the same unrefined results—unprojected tips and unappealing shapes. I truly regret not realizing this sooner, and I wish he had refused to take my case in the first place.

I'll continue to keep you updated as I navigate the next steps in my journey.

Worst Mistake of my Life. How Dr. Mehmet Dinc Destroyed my Nose and my Mental Health

Had revision 5 months ago since the primary rhinoplasty with Dinc was terrible—unnatural, crooked nose, long and pointy and very unnatural. Dr. Dinc insisted on operating on me, saying that another surgeon would ruin my nose and that he was the right person as he knew what he had done to my nose. After a lot of research and hours and hours on Whatsapp with Dr. Dinc, I decided to go to Istanbul twice—once 2 months pre-op and once a few days before. The first time I went we had a 2-hour consultation and he seemed to listen, and we agreed on a morph of how my nose should look. He needed to fix the crooked nose that ensued following the primary rhinoplasty and deproject the tip. He himself told me that the result of his primary rhinoplasty was too artificial and he needed to use the columellar strut technique instead of septal extension to provide a more natural and less pointy look. As time passed, we kept in touch and the day before surgery we had a 2-hour consultation where we went over everything again. I did most of the talking and he seemed to listen. I prepared FaceApp examples, pics, notes from our previous meetings, went into in-depth technical details. He said he had understood everything but then started saying my nose length was good and my tip might drop over time due to this technique, so we agreed he keeps it high so the drop would be minimal. On cast removal day my nose was already huge but I thought the angles and projection had improved. How wrong I was. Dr. Mehmet Emre Dinc cannot do deprojection. It is a very difficult technique that only a few surgeons can do. He lied to me and kept on saying he is the best surgeon and has written articles and does very complex surgeries every month. Now looking at his social media more carefully, I know that he never deprojects noses. My nose is still longer than my original nose due to the way he made the tip thinner without working on the tip cartilages and changing shape/length. He should have been honest and said he did not know how to fix my nose. Now fast forward 5 months and my nose is significantly bigger than my original nose and 2x times bigger than the primary rhinoplasty nose. How you can go from one extreme to the other I don't know, but he says my nose is a good result. He added cadaver cartilage on septum (spreader graft), bridge, and tip and this alone increases size, but a good surgeon should be able to create an aesthetically appealing shape. He keeps on bragging that he managed to straighten my nose but truth is my nose now looks like a huge rectangle with a droopier tip and very thick bridge. Because he cannot do deprojection, to make my tip look shorter he opened it up more and rotated it downwards! This is an absolutely horrendous idea as now my nose is bigger, longer, and points down, making me look older and from a different ethnicity (from European to Arab). I can now see the full length of my new longer nose from the front with a huge alar crease and base and nostrils that also point downwards. One thing is certain: my new nose looks very natural, meaning it looks like a nose that needs a rhinoplasty! My nose looks nothing like the morphs we agreed upon—I understand it cannot be not 100%—but this is a completely different result, obviously a disaster. I will now need a third rhinoplasty and the pool of eligible revision surgeons is very small due to the number of cadaver cartilages inserted into my nose and the many manipulations and scar tissue, with the high risk of making things worse and even compromising breathing. I am very scared to undergo another surgery and have no idea who I can choose this time. I regret trusting Dr. Mehmet Emre Dinc both times, it is still beyond me why he insisted on operating on me knowing he was not able to shape my nose correctly and this was such a delicate and difficult surgery after the mess he made the first time around. My frontal view is disgusting and now I know why he reluctantly posts only a handful of long term results or before and after and frontal views. My life has totally changed, I wanted to be more handsome and now I have to accept that I look uglier and older than before, I do not recognize myself in the mirror and try to motivate myself and not take many pics. It is like I lost my identity. The repercussions on my mental health are indescribable and after 2 years, hours and hours of consultations, lots of money and time spent, suffering, over 12 hours under general anaesthetic in total and long periods of recovery and inactivity, I am here with a huge blocky nose full of cadaver cartilage that is a total mess and makes me look and feel terrible. Dr. Dinc cannot do all techniques, he always does septal extensions and NEVER changes the shape of the tip. If your tip is okay, the result will be fine when he makes it thinner and longer, but if it is asymmetric and too long it will be longer, so the successful ops are due to that. Should you need a shorter nose or some work on the tip, he won’t be able to do it, and he did not do it to me on both ops and later went on explaining that it was not possible—meaning he, Dr. Mehmet Emre Dinc, is not able to do it because of his lack of skills! He also admitted having had several unsuccessful surgeries whereby the nose got crooked again and other issues—he himself told me—so what you see on RealSelf is mostly good reviews, but here we are with a reality check! He pretends to listen and is very patient so you develop trust towards him, but in the end he will do what he always does regardless—the same nose on everyone—and in my case, in the first rhinoplasty, he showed it 100%. He gave exactly the same nose he gives to all patients, females included. In the revision, he tried to do something different and he failed even more than the primary. I strongly believe, had I gone to a different and more experienced ENT surgeon specialized in plastic surgery, I would not have had these catastrophic results. Dr. Dinc is an ENT doctor and has shown absolutely zero competence in plastic surgery, lying about “making the nose fit the face.” This is rubbish. He just tries to fix things regardless, and if it suits the face, okay—but he has no knowledge about that, as my case shows. I strongly ask you to think 2000 times before choosing this surgeon unless your nose is so bad you have nothing to lose. The pic I am posting is 5 months post op. You cannot fully see what I mean without looking at my full face and features but you can still see that my natural nose is thinner, has a better angle, and has a nice tip and bridge—it has structure. Well… look at my nose after 2 surgeries: columella is gone and collapsing, it’s a big blob on my face, and it’s not just swelling. It has a lot of cadaver cartilage, and this won’t get smaller, as it is added structure, so it won’t change over time. Dr. Dinc “repaired” my nose as if it were a piece of furniture, by adding pieces of MTF cartilage to make it straight and make it bulky and sturdy, without thinking that this is a nose on a person’s face—someone who chose elective cosmetic surgery to look better! Only a miracle could turn my new huge nose into something that vaguely resembles my old nose. If this happened, all of this would have been in vain anyways—but it won’t even happen, and I am stuck with this monstrosity on my face that I have to deal with for at least 2 more years before I go one more time under the knife hopefully with someone competent enough to fix what Dr Dinc did to me.
