Terrible Experience & Poor Results

I had a revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Bahman Guyuron that cost $30,000 and required me to fly out of state. From the start, I believed I was in good hands. During the consultation, he gave a laundry list of detailed observations about what was “wrong” with my nose and how he planned to correct it. I was very clear that I wanted only minimal revisions, specifically, a refined and slightly lifted tip, while maintaining the natural features of my nose as a Black woman. His staff took detailed photos and made precise markups showing exactly what the doctor intended to do. I was told he would decide during surgery whether to use rib cartilage (he used the cartilage which remains hard as a rock and more pronounced on the left). A student was also shadowing him during my procedure. To this day, I still wonder if the student was more involved than I realized.

When the bandages came off, I knew immediately that something had gone wrong. My nose was deformed, asymmetrical, and collapsing on the right side. It was also extremely painful. The doctor and his team repeatedly assured me that it was just swelling and would resolve. It didn’t. Over the next two years, I had several virtual consultations to discuss my disappointing results. Each time, I left the conversation in tears. Dr. Guyuron’s demeanor is shockingly cold and detached, the complete opposite of empathy or compassion. He said he would make “minor adjustments,” but his lack of accountability or genuine concern was disheartening…and scary. He repeatedly failed to acknowledge that my nose looked/looks a mess. After going back and forth with him, I had to ask him straight up if the nose he was looking at was the nose he envisioned.

Today, my nose is still uneven — my nostrils and alar base remain asymmetrical, the right side feels hollow and painful, and the tip I wanted refined was never addressed. I now have to see an ENT to understand why I still experience discomfort, and I’m afraid they’ll tell me nothing can be done.

To make matters worse, his nursing coordinator was exceptionally rude and dismissive throughout the process. The only redeeming part of this entire experience was the kindness of the nurses themselves, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one. Those two stars are for them.

Dr. Guyuron’s lack of bedside manner, poor attention to detail, and overall indifference left me deeply disappointed and disheartened. I cannot in good conscience recommend him or his practice.
