Shockingly Disappointing

I saw Dr. Ezzat two years ago and found him delightful. He was patient, kind, supportive, honest, personable and funny. I was very impressed by him and made up my mind that when the time came for my procedure, he would be the Dr.

Today, I met with him again as I am ready to pull the trigger and while I do not think he is someone who will upsell you on an enhancement you do not need, I found him to be almost the polar opposite of how he was when we met a few years ago. Maybe it was because he had residents in the room with him - but I found him rude, almost dismissive, devoid of any charm, personality and humor.

As he was examining my face he made a comment to his residents about what he saw and I asked, “What is that?” and his response was, “Just let me do my job, please”. Now, to be fair, he did state he would “tell me after”, but I found his bed side manner to be rude and dismissive. I am not there as a teaching tool, I am there as a patient trying to learn and make an important decision. The tone for the rest of the visit was along these lines to the point where I didn’t feel comfortable asking all my questions. I just wanted to leave.

He also contradicted some things he had told me when we met a few years ago. Not because something had been eroded by age, but more he failed to look inside my nose to determine what was impairing my breathing. He completely blew it off whereas last time, he fully examined my nose and used a long cotton swab to move something inside and asked if that improved my breathing. It did. He told me what he could do to enhance my breathing. Today, he didn’t even make the effort to inquire about my breathing or examine the inside structure. When I asked he said something along the lines of, “There isn’t anything I can do to help with that”.

To the commenters who talk about the upselling, I do not agree. This is the second time he has talked me down from a more expensive / invasive procedure as he believes it is simply too soon and will make a procedure way down the road more complicated.

I don’t understand the two personalities, and while I find him honest, his attitude / bedside manner of today makes me so uncomfortable I no longer trust him to work on my face.
