I am now 65 years old and have been contemplating facial treatments for 15 years. When I was 50 years old, I opted for the laser procedure, "Ultherapy." I did not regret my choice at the time; however, it was expensive ($6000) and the results were not that significant of a change (considering my age and thin skin type). Fast forward to present day when I decided to opt for Botox and fillers; Botox injections for the forehead, Juvederm for the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, Restylane Silk for the upper lip and Restylane for the cheeks. Even though my plastic surgeon told me that I was a candidate for surgery, I opted for Botox and fillers due to a deadline date (upcoming grade school reunion) that I was trying to meet for results. The recovery period for me was two weeks. As you see from the photos below, the changes are significant: the nasolabial folds and marionette lines are softer and the forehead lines are not apparent at all. Please note that my plastic surgeon informed me prior to treatment that, in my case, the Juvederm would have more of an impact on the nasolabial folds than on the marionette lines. As far as the future holds, the Botox injections will last around 3 months and the fillers will last about 1 year. In one year, I will seriously consider a facelift along with eye surgeries along with the possible use of Botox and fillers. My plastic surgeon informed me that the results would be longer-lasting (10 years) and I will get "more bang for my buck" this option (estimated at $13,000). For now, I am a happy camper!
