Hello all. I'm a 48 year old man. Was fat most of my life 320lbs . At age 44 I woke one morning and as I stood beside my bed I felt dizzy. After standing there for a few mins. I limped to my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. And Said to myself, what the hell is going on? And at that moment I decided I wanted to live. There is enough risk out there why add to it. And I started my journey. I lost 120lbs via gastric sleeve. After some research I found a dr in West Palm Beach. Let me say I'm a very picky person and the attention to detail is most important to me. Dr William J Vinyard. I liked the fact he didn't try to sell me unrealistic results. The best. Upon meeting him. I knew right then and there he was the surgeon for me. Made appointment. And had my procedure done. I hope my story will help some live.

You look great congratulations on losing all the weight. I lost 70 Lbs and I'm having the same surgery in a few months. I'm very nervous about it. Did you need someone with you for 24 hours for 3 days after the surgery to help you do things? I live alone and I'm worried. Thanks

I had my wife with me all the way. I would definitely recommend having someone with u. If not 24 hours. But for the Better part of the day. I'm a very independent person myself but this procedure is a maximally invasive surgery so yes. At least for the first few days. Please do your best to have someone with u.

Hm, thanks for the advise. But I'll be fine alone - I have no choice. I'll have to take a cab home and I'll just take it easy for a few days. I should be fine. But thanks again.

Ok. I guess we must do what we got to do. Don't be discourage. You will be a little week. Remember no sudden moves. As your sutures are fresh and the medication for pain will have you drowsy. If have to go it alone. I would suggest a post op garment with 1 zipper in the front. Mine has the zippers on the side. As of now I still need help to put it on. Good lock. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Always glad to help a fellow partner in the struggle. ITS DOABLE ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it. You've given me the best post surgery advise so far. I've been on strong pain meds before because of a very painful injure so I am somewhat familiar with how it effects me. I was on large doses of Vicodin ES. What medication were you taking for pain after the surgery? I will remember the one zipper compression garment. Thank you again.

One more thing -- First surgery I'm have the front done with liposuction on my love handles, then I'm going back for a 2nd surgery to remove whatever skin needs to be removed from my lower back about 3 months after the 1st surgery. So maybe it will be a little easier since I'll only have sutures on the front at first. Did you have your front & back done at the same time?

I had belt plasty so I did the front and back At the same time. we didn't pull to tight to minimize risk of opening my sutures. But after six months we. me and my dr will consider amendments if necessary. But I think your corse of action is the right corse for you. Considering you are alone. Oh and I took oxycodone.

Yeah, my doctor thinks that 2 separate surgeries is a good idea for me also. He wants to lipo the fat from my flanks (love handles) and then see how the skin reacts, he thinks maybe it will shrink a bit when the fat is removed. But one thing I have is loose skin on my buttocks that I think can only be helped if the skin on my lower back is removed and pulled up a bit. But we'll see.
