Integrity

I feel that Dr. Sukkar has good intentions, and is probably an excellent MD; however, there should be a licensed medical personnel to do the initial consultation. I was wanting a partial face lift, but I was told that it was too early for me to go through that procedure. A blepharplasty was recommended; I had to look that up. Come to find out, I didn't need that either. (?) Anyway, it was later recommended that I get the Phenol Peel done under general anesthesia. When I went in for my consultation, I explained to them that I DO NOT respond well to fillers, peels, laser treatments, etc. and that my skin has worsened after just getting laser treatment 3 months prior. I was told, "awe- your just too hard on yourself." I was told that the Phenol Peel is an intense peel, and when my skin rejuvenates, it will be thicker, tighter, giving a smoother appearance.
I trusted Dr. Sukkar's expertise, and agreed to the procedure. I was told that it was $1,000 deposit, and the surgery was scheduled. I was given some facial products to prepare for the procedure.
Something told me to research this further. Thank God I did! A contraindication to this procedure is Enhler's Danlos Syndrome. (A connective tissue disorder that prevents you from making collagen). Why wasn't a health questionnaire required prior to taking my money?
I called the clinic right away; spoke to Carrie to let her know I AM NOT a candidate for this procedure, and she said, "well, we can wait a few weeks."
Right then, it was clear that she was not licensed, nor had any idea of what she was talking about. I also told her that I had a reaction to the products she had me take home. Her response, "oh good, it's working; it's just impurities leaving your body."
Never asking me what type of reaction, or any attempt to get more information, this was a RED FLAG!
After having the products put away in the bag, I was told later by a friend (nurse), that the only safe resolution to my wrinkles was a fat transfer; my body won't reject it's own cells. I had assumed that the $1,000 deposit for the peel would go toward the fat transfer. I was told, no, the $1,000 was for the products I was told I had to use. (For a procedure I don't qualify for).
I mentioned this to the clinic, and was told that Dr. Sukkar doesn't feel comfortable doing this procedure. They said that cannot take the products back, not would they give me a refund.
Classic textbook definition of "Bait and Switch."
All this could have been avoided had there of been simple communication, respect for what patient's are telling them, and good ole' integrity.
