So I am going in for lipo 360 with Dr. George...

So I am going in for lipo 360 with Dr. George Solomon in Palm Harbor, Florida. I am 5'8" and 190 lbs. I am a runner, so I certainly get enough exercise, but I am also going through menopause, and have hashimoto's disease so it is near impossible for me to lose weight. My surgery is set for Thursday, March 22nd, and my stomach is literally in knots. I am so excited to finally get this done, but I am super terrified at the same time. I am mostly afraid of the pain I've heard about during the recovery process. I have my arnica pills, and gel, bromelian and turmeric. I have a second compression garment to wear, my pain killers and my antibiotics. I have all my other supplies as well, so I am ready to go... As ready as I can be at least. I am uploading some before pictures and will document this journey with as much detail as possible, but if anyone has any tips that may help my recover go smooth, please chime in!

How did it go? Are you doing good? I so hope you are pleased with the results!

Hi there, things are going well. I am quite a bit sore, but hoping tomorrow is better. From what I can tell, Dr. Solomon gave me exactly what I wanted. I can tell that I actually have a waist again! I will post another update with pictures in a bit.
March 24, 2018
Do you know the amount of CC.s he was able to get out? Im looking forward to seeing your pictures!
March 24, 2018
He took out 3500 CCs, which is 3.5 liters. I think they took out a lot. Let's hope my body reflects the change well.
March 24, 2018
My doctor said he can take out about 800CCs which doesn't seem very much to me at all...Thats concerning because Im afraid I wont be pleased with the results..Were you kept awake? I will be and thats a little terrifying to me as well..
March 24, 2018
800 CCs is a lot. 1 liter of fat is approximately 6lbs of fat. But you shouldn't be looking at this as weight loss. I wasn't worried about losing weight, I just hated how my shape morphed in to a square. I wanted my nice tummy back, and my waist. The limit of fat that can be removed in the US, while a person is awake, under local anesthesia is 5000 CCs. If you are in the hospital for the procedure, and under general anesthesia they can take out more. Are you sure your doctor didn't say 8000? What area are you having done?
March 25, 2018
Yes I'm sure it's 800ccs. I replied earlier but I'm not seeing my response. I'll try sending this again.
March 25, 2018
Ok now I see my comment. I'm getting my belly done only. I'm actually fine everywhere else. My belly has always been the issue and no matter what I do I can't lose it. I'm being kept awake which terrifies me. The surgeon said it's safer and it helps keep the costs down. He said most people tolerate the procedure well. I hope I'm among the "most". So do you think I'll see a big improvement with the 800cc? I'm a little worried about excess skin too.
March 25, 2018
It depends on how big you are. I hate to put it that way.... I'm not a small person, so 800 CCs would not really make a difference on my body. If it's just your stomach, then I can absolutely see that amount making a difference. I was awake, but they give you so much sedative.... I literally woke myself up snoring in the middle of the procedure. I had to ask my husband if he walked me to the car afterwards. So, you're awake, but you probably won't remember much. If I were you, I would ask your doctor what they give for sedation.
March 25, 2018
My belly is big...like rolls big...I am 5ft7 and weigh about 170...How long did the actual procedure take for you?
March 25, 2018
I am very happy for your results. thanks for sharing all these pictures, Keep us informed on how you are doing
March 25, 2018
Yes I'm sure. I'm having my belly done and will be awake during the procedure. I am trying not to think about the possible pain that will go along with the procedure. The surgeon told me it's safer to be kept awake to avoid complications of anesthesia and to keep the cost down. He did say that most people find it to be "tolerable". So 800cc on my belly should make a big diffference do you think? I'm actually fine everywhere else except stomach.

The only reason I could see that he wouldn't want to remove more fat is if he thinks you will be left with a lot of skin hanging. I'm not sure, but I think you should talk to your doctor and find out why he wouldn't take more. I got to the clinic at 7:30 am for my procedure. The nurse had to ask a bunch of questions and do vitals, plus go over some other things and she took photos twice. Once before the doctor marked me up and once after. They gave me sedatives then started an IV. I want to say it must have been around 10am before we started. I think I left around 12:30 pm. I felt no pain, except once and it was for a quarter of a second.

My procedure is scheduled for next Tuesday-April 24! Nervous more about being awake for the procedure however the procedure is paid for (4500) so there's no turning back now.
April 17, 2018
So you were kept awake?
April 18, 2018
I was super nervous as well, but my doctor sedated me so well that I didn't even know what was going on! The only thing I remember is snoring myself awake during the procedure, and then the nurses standing me up when it was over. I don't remember getting dressed, or driving home. I just remember waking up in my bed. It was pretty awesome, and I will add that I think it was totally worth it. Being uncomfortable for 5 or so days to get rid of all that fat?? Yes please! Make sure you have Arnica, Bromelian and Tumeric. Those really helped with the swelling and bruising. I bruise very easily and I started taking these supplements about a week before surgery with great results. An ice pack will help as well. Start your lymphatic massages a dew says after surgery, it helps so much. I didn't start them until over a week after, but I wished I had. The worst part for me were the flanks. They stay tender for a while. Wear very loose clothes. I also took about a week and a half off of work so I could recover at home properly. Good luck to you. I hope it goes smooth (which it should, there is no reason why it wouldn't), and that you recovery quickly. Keep me up to date!

Thank you. I'm a little nervous so I loved reading this post. I'll update once I am back home next Wednesday!

Hi, had liposuction yesterday and all went great. No pain hardly at all. I didn't feel a thing when he was injecting the numbing fluid. Felt pain twice briefly while he was actually doing the procedure. He took out 2100ccs compared to 800 as he originally figured. I have not had any leakage. None. Is this normal. I have 4 small incisions that are stitched. I thought I would have lots of leakage. Of course I'm still swollen a lot.
April 25, 2018
2100 cc's sounds much more appropriate. I had 3500 cc's sucked out...lol. When the nurses stood me up off the operating table a lot of fluid poured out of me and on to the pad I was standing on. The only incisions that he stitched were the incisions on the top half of my body. The ones right above my butt, and the ones on my pubic area were left open so I could drain. Every doctor does it differently. Make sure you drink plenty of water. The swelling will cause soreness for sure. I still swell pretty bad at the end of each day and it feels tender. Did he say you can start massaging yourself? Do you have any pain, and is some one able to help you? It's much easier to just lay in bed. Make sure you relax, so you don't swell as much. Remember, the first 3 days are the worst, but you will be so happy when you see your new form taking shape. Congrats!

I changed the padding today and it's actually just 2 small incisions-one each just obive each thigh. Both have a stitch that will dissolve. He didn't say when I can massage. I have had very little pain. A little yesterday which was cured with extra strength Tylenol. Absolutely no pain today. Yes my partner is looking after me. I have been up a little today. I actually feel very ok. He wants me to return on Friday for a quick follow up. i am so relieved to have felt relatively no pain. I was freaking out about being kept awake but it really was a pain free procedure for me. I have been in bed since getting home yesterday mostly. I'm taking a few trips downstairs but then up in bed again. I guess I won't worry about leakage because both incisions are stitched. I am wearing this god awful compression gArnent and I have to wear it for 3 weeks. I return to work next Monday so I'm hoping it won't be noticeable. I get to take a shower tomorrow! That's exciting. Ah the little things we take for granted!

Just wondering how you are doing today. I was happy to hear that you weren't experiencing much pain, during or after, your procedure. I am still swelling every day, at the end of the day. The mornings are much better. I started wearing a waist clincher and it has been helping with the swelling way more than my compression garment was. As a bonus, it helped me sits up straighter too!

Hi, I'm doing really well. I went back to work today. I have some bruising and loads of swelling but I can definitely see a smaller waist already. I am wearing the compressive garment they gave me and I'm also wearing spanx when I can no longer tolerate the garment. I'm so anxious to see my final result. How are you doing? When do you think we will see our end results? My bruises are all yellow now so they are fading.

I'm doing very well. I swell at the end of everyday, but that is expected. My doctor says that it could take up to 6 months for the final results to show. I have been very impatient though because of the edema in my lower belly. I hate that the pooch is there, even after lipo. Right after the surgery, the pooch was gone. I look fine with my clothes on, but I cannot wear a bathing suit with this pooch jutting out from my body. That's the only issue I am unhappy about :(

UPDATED FROM Delilahbug
Day of treatment

I actually went through with it.

Delilahbug
I almost chickened out this morning. I kept asking myself why I needed to do this, but if followed through hoping that the end result is what I had envisioned. Right now, I am not in a crazy amount of pain. Right below my ribs, on the top of my stomach, it is burning, bur tolerable. The doctor told me that tomorrow, after my follow up I can start taking ibuprofen instead of Tylenol, which makes me super happy. I am still pretty shaky, but not as much as when I left the clinic at 12:30 pm. It's now 4:30 pm. I've just has a smoothie hoping it would help, but I think I need really food, and to bring my sugar to. I'm pretty bruised already, and right now I feel a bit disappointed because I still don't have my waist back. I'm hoping that will improve as I heal. Well, gonna take a nap until next dressing change. I will up you them.
