I had a large, protruding labia minora my entire life. The pain and discomfort from it negatively affected my life in many aspects. As a very active person, it just became something I learned to deal with. In November I began some research on the topic and found out something could be done to help with the lifetime of discomfort and embarrassment. On December 22nd I received a Clitoral Hood Reduction, with Wedge method labiaplasty. I was given pudendal nerve blocks that would leave the entire area numb for hours after the surgery, and put under IV conscious sedation for the two hour procedure. I woke up in no pain at all and went home not long after waking up. There was a decent amount of soreness and swelling for 4-5 days after, and I really didn't begin to feel myself until the 9-day mark, and felt great at the 2-week mark. I was prescribed pain medicine, but only ended up taking it a few times, mostly at night because sleeping is uncomfortable at first. For pain and discomfort I primarily just took Tylenol and that helped tremendously.

Around the 6-week post op time, I was feeling great and completely myself again but when I took a look with a mirror to see the progress I noticed a very tiny hole in the right side of my labia. This hole ended up tearing, causing a minor separation to that side of my labia. I contacted my surgeon immediately and with a quick response he assured me that it would a quick, and simple revision. I met him for a consultation in February, where he assessed the tear, and together we planned to allow for a few more months of healing from the original surgery, and then the small tear would be revised. The revision was completed yesterday. It was done in office, and with local anesthetic in less than an hour. Today the swelling is minor, and the area is sore and tender but managed completely with pain medication and rest.

Dr. Oppenheimer is a phenomenal surgeon. Even in my initial research on the procedure, his name was the first to pop up, along with the information he posted and the great reviews on his work. He truly has a passion for what he does and for the well being of his patients. I was confident after the first consultation that he was the person I wanted to perform my procedure. He has been nothing but honest and dependable. The lines of communication have been open and clear every step of the way, and even when needing the small revision, there has been zero regret in choosing him to perform this procedure because he makes a point to instill trust from the beginning. Dr. Oppenheimer changed my life, and restored confidence and comfort that I haven't known for many years.
