Consultation Review: New Nose, New Beginning

I was so nervous for some reason but Dr. Wayne and his staff were very nice and very thorough. They took pictures first, basically the same poses as I already posted but with a much better camera and better lighting of course. Then the doctor came in and physically examined my nose, asked me several questions, and then explained what he could do for me. He altered my photos to show me an idea of what he could do for me and it looks very close to my wish pics. I am going to request those pics from them so I can post them here.

He did warn me that swelling would take some time to go down and it won't look like the final result for a couple of years but noticeably improved after a few months when swelling goes down. I have very thin skin across my bridge and he'll need to add cartilage to fill in the bony or pinched area just above the tip, after refining the bridge. Then he said the tip is VERY hard cartilage, almost unusually hard, not sure what that means, but it will require the most work and refining. I do not seem to have any structural or breathing problems though.

Since I have had a cornea transplant he wasn't comfortable going near my eyes to do any work there other than maybe fillers below along the upper cheek area. I totally agree! I'm not interested in any more surgeries near my eye either. But he did say he thought much of my dark circle and bag problem was due to allergies more than anything and maybe partially hereditary (adopted so not sure).

He is booking out into March and I am thinking around then will be perfect! I am selling my house and will be moving around that time and I want to be settled in and able to recover with no obligations. I might push it back to April or May even. I'll update again if/when I get those photos. It looked so awesome! I'm so excited!!

I have a long, oval face, small almond eyes and fairly thin lips. I like my appearance okay overall but I feel like my nose doesn't belong on this face and detracts from my overall appearance. I am not interested in having an upturned nose or something that doesn't suit my face shape, though I admire that on others. I just want the beak-like hump straightened and the bulbous tip reduced, hopefully to as close as straight as possible. I know these pics are very wishful thinking but I think the nose shapes here would suit me. I threw in a couple more before pics as well.

I have wanted rhinoplasty for 20 years since I went through puberty and grew this horrendous bulbous thing on my face! I researched the best facial surgeon in the area and kept coming to Dr. Ivan Wayne. My first consultation appointment is set for Dec. 12th, 2014. I plan on setting the date for surgery that day, as long as all goes well. I'm very confident that this is the surgeon for me and I am very ready. I have had 2 consult appointments for this procedure with other doctors in the area over the past few years, but I ended up chickening out as they were not facial specialists with extensive experience with rhinoplasty, as Dr. Wayne is, and I just didn't feel confident choosing a doctor that wasn't experienced in this specialty.

I am now 32 years old and I have wanted this since I was 12. I have lost all family members, the final death being my 36 year old brother, as of just before my 30th birthday. For some reason his death has really changed me in ways that I didn't think it would, my outlook on life and what I want for my future. I used to feel guilty every time I thought about wanting to change my appearance just for the sake of vanity. I lived my life for my family and neglected myself. But now I am ready to really enjoy my life and the way that I look. Tomorrow isn't promised to everyone, no matter how carefully you live. And if you aren't really enjoying your life then you aren't really living.

That being said, I have spent the better part of the past fifteen years grieving the loss of my beloved family members, one after the other, and now I feel like my face is stuck looking sad! My eyes droop and my bags have bags so I will probably get that addressed as well. As I get older I feel like I look like a bitter old witch and that is NOT acceptable for me and it's not how I feel. I am proud of who I am and all that I've overcome. I want to be proud of my appearance as well. I can't wait to meet Dr. Wayne and update you all through this process.
