I contacted the offices of Drs. Geroulis and Galanis with the North Shore Center for Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, as a referral from my PCP. I had weight loss surgery two years ago and was concerned that I now had excess skin and a protruding upper abdomen that wasn’t going away with the weight loss. This was new territory to me. I never thought I would ever entertain the thought of having cosmetic surgery, but I wanted to at least find out if this was for me. Oh, I should probably add that I am 64 years old (but in good physical health)!

Dr. Geroulis is primarily the facial plastics doctor, while Dr. Galanis, a relative newcomer to the area, handles the body sculpting. I heavily researched both doctors before going to them and both were highly rated. Both doctors were extremely accepting, patient and kind, taking their time to talk to me about options and combinations of procedures to consider, along with a projected timeline of completion.

After interviewing other cosmetic surgeons that were located closer to me, I felt the level of respect and dignity was highest with Drs. Geroulis and Galanis and chose to take that extra drive to get the best care and results.

Dr. Galanis discovered the reason for my protruding tummy. It is called diastasis recti which is the widening of the gap between the two abdominal muscles and can only be corrected surgically. I also had a stubborn fat layer (apron) under my belly button that we decided to remove as well. So my procedure was called an abdominoplasty tummy flattening and tuck.

I am now about 6 weeks post-op and I couldn’t be more thrilled about how I look – and I still have several months before all the swelling goes down completely. For the first time in my adult life, I can look in the mirror and not feel ashamed of my body. I still have more work I want to do, but I wanted to share with others that they will be very pleased with The North Shore Center for Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery. The offices are elegant and the managers and staff deliver the highest caliber of care and professionalism. Take it from me – you are never too old to feel and look beautiful!
