WORTH IT
Hello, My name is Andrew and i am a 14 year old teen. I have been struggling with severe cystic acne for almost three years. I had a very bad experience with the first dermatologist i went to see two years ago. Now I have had 13 different topical/oral antibiotics prescribed to me. I decided that enough is enough about 2 weeks ago and saw another different dermatologist today. He IMMEDIATELY told me that I was a perfect candidate for Accutane and to start ASAP. So I got my blood work done and now I am holding it in my hands. I cant wait to start taking this so called miracle drug and will be posting bi-weekly updates/pictures throughout my Accutane journey.

Skin getting worse and Starting to dry out. Actually happy :)
So, I have been on accutane for a little over a week now and I have to say my skin is getting worse, which I know is very normal so im glad its working. My lips and skin have been getting VERY dry as well which I also know is very normal. The main part of my body that is getting dry are the backs of my hands, like sandpaper dry. So, I have a couple of products that have worked wonders for me so far and don't irritate my skin or lips. For my lips I use the mini travel sized tubes of Aquaphor which keeps your lips so nice and moist which I like. Also for the backs of my hands I use Eucerin: Original Repair Creme (in the tub NOT the bottle) which works wonders for my dry skin. I will be posting pictures of my face so you can see my progress. I also appreciate very much the tip of drinking water which I will start to drink more of. If you have any questions post in the comments! :) See you next week :)

That's nice! We're on the same boat. When I noticed the drying on my lips and on my cheeks while breaking out, I feel so happy! :) Only means it's working .. Day 12 for me today .. ^^

Hey,
I'm glad accutane is working for you. I start today and I am not looking forward to the dry skin. One tip: if you're not a big water drinker (like a lot of people) then stock up on sparkling water and squash - mix both and you have water that tastes good. It gives you all the benefit of drinking water without the bore of drinking water. Hope it helps!

Almost done :) My skin has never looked better. (7 months in, 1 to go)
I know I didn't? post any updates during my journey but thats what comes with being a busy teenager. Well, my journey is almost over. I have one month more and after that im done. I can say that my skin has never looked any better and I am finally confident with how I look. I will post pictures but the difference is uncanny. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments I would be happy to answer them. I will post when my journey is over and tell you all that I experienced.

How long did it take before your face was clear? My son (13) is in month 3 / still almost the same as when we started / slightly better maybe - extremely dry lips

A lot of people see drastic improvements within the first 4 months. But more people say they see next to no changes until their last month and then, boom! Acne free. It's different for everyone. But the common denominator is: it takes a few months to see any changes.

Wow, your skin looks amazing! I've been debating about whether to take the Accutane plunge myself and your pics might have just convinced me to do it. You can see your confidence shine through these last photos! If I can ask, what other (if any) side effects did you experience?
