Oculoplastic Surgeon, Board Certified in Ophthalmology
135 E 71st St., New York, New York
Overall rating

My experience with Dr. Schwarcz has been excellent in every way. Back in early July, during my routine yearly dermatologist appointment, my dermatologist removed a small growth on my lower right eyelid that turned out to be a basal cell. My dermatologist recommended a Mohs surgeon on Long Island (where I live). When I was able to get in to see that Moh's surgeon a week later, she advised that while she could perform the Mohs procedure to remove the basal cell, I would also need to consult with an oculoplastic surgeon as both surgeons would be needed to perform the procedure(s) back to back on the same day in the respective offices. However, the oculoplastic surgeon who she recommended, who was also on Long Island, could not and would not get me in for a consultation for five (5) weeks. While I understood from my dermatologist and the Mohs surgeon that waiting would not be detrimental, it was not remotely my preference or desire as I wanted to get the procedure(s) done as soon as possible. As an aside, I explained that to the office staff of the oculoplastic surgeon that had been recommended by the Mohs surgeon and his office staff were completely lacking in compassion, understanding or courtesy. As a result, it was then that I sought out a new set of surgeons and through my exhaustive research I found Dr. Hooman Khorasani at Mt. Sinai. It was Dr. Khorasani, who was amazing and I reviewed separately, who referred to Dr. Schwarcz to perform the oculoplastic surgery needed on my eyelid following the Mohs removal. Whereas the timeframe for actually having the procedure(s) done with the doctors who I had previously consulted with on Long Island was going to be at least 6 weeks, Drs. Khorasani and Schwarcz had me scheduled in a week and a half from my initial consultation with Dr. Khorasani. When I then met with Dr. Schwarcz, he absolutely put my mind completely at ease. Aside from being clearly skilled, his bedside manner is superb. After the procedure(s), which thankfully went very smoothly, he remained available at all times to answer my questions and now a month later, the mark on my lower eyelid is barely noticeable. To sum up, if you are in need of an oculoplastic surgeon to perform either elective or required surgery, look no further than Dr. Schwarcz. You will assuredly be happy.
