Best Gift to Myself - Thank You, Dr. Vath

WORTH IT
For years I had considered a breast reduction to ease neck and back pain. When I first visited with Dr. Vath for a consultation, he said " You'll wish you had done it sooner". He was absolutely correct. At 62 years old, I now realize that the discomfort and pain could have been alleviated long ago. I decided to do a tummy tuck at the same time for one procedure, one recovery. At six months post-op I can say the Mommy Makeover procedure and the healing process all went very well. Dr. Vath is compassionate, encouraging, and truly an artist and skilled surgeon. The results far exceed my expectations and dreams. The pain is gone and I now have a bikini body! I highly recommend Dr. Vath and his excellent team at Center for Cosmetic Surgery.

You look fantastic! Hard to believe these are pics of someone 62. I am 55 and had a breast lift last summer and getting a tummy tuck this summer. Is the tummy tuck pain worse and recovery more difficult than breast surgery? Did you need any special accomidations ( lift chair, walker) that helped?

Thank you, Shatiu! I found the breast reduction to be surprisingly free of pain and discomfort, and healed quickly with the exception of bruising on the left breast. Tummy tuck was a different story! There was pain the first ten days or so, then it got progressively better. At six weeks post-op I was cleared for physical activity. I played golf and hiked with no problems. Everyone heals at different rates, so my best advice is to follow post op instructions to the letter and go with your surgeon's recommendation for resuming activities. I was offered Exparel and was so happy I decided to incur the extra expense, though it seems pricey for an injection. I feel it made a real difference in reducing pain and improving mobility those first few days post op. I recommend it if it's something your surgeon offers. I didn't need an extra equipment post op. My husband helped me out of bed the first few days until I could do it on my own.

Was your tummy tuck done vertically? I don’t see the typical hip to hip scar? Thanks!

I actually do have a hip to hip scar. The incision was down low, so it's completely concealed in a bikini. At almost 7 months post op it has faded considerably. I think in another few months it will be only faintly noticeable. I used scar cream for the first three months, and a healing meditation first thing each morning to Nature Healing Society music (found on YouTube). I believe in the body's ability to heal itself and found this to be a contributing factor to my recovery. But above all, following my surgeon's post op instructions to the letter. Thanks for asking.
