Not a Great Experience

I hate that I’m writing this review, because I never want to give anyone a poor review … but my experience with Dr Kohan was nothing like the other reviewers.
It started when I was contacted via text what Dr. Kohan recommend based on my photos submitted (he wanted to do more than any other surgeon I had a consult with) …however I looked the other way because I loved his work and figured why not do it all in one shot if I’m going to do it? Right? wrong.
I never met Dr. Kohan until the morning of my procedure (another major red flag I ignored) and as he was marking me up I mentioned I was shocked at how much skin he was going to attempt to remove during my TT. (I had major abdominal separation but my skin was not very loose at all). He made a comment he thought he could do it. Ok…
Fast forward next day after surgery and my scar on one side is entirely black, at my appt the next morning he made no mention of it (like a professional should have). I figured it was from surgery and would fade. It didn’t.
At my post op he walks in and instantly accuses me of smoking (wtf) I’ve literally never smoked a cigarette in my life. I have hepa filters through my entire house and car. I don’t even light candles. If anything, I’m the last person he needs to worry about smoking. So then he asked if anyone around me was smoking (my husband is a pro athlete and I have two kids under 2… so, no). I found it weird but moved on. Then the medical assistant removes fluid from my back, leaves me standing there for ten mins naked covered in fluid while she grabs towels to clean it. Meanwhile I’m listening to the patient in the next room screaming on the phone mad about something. The whole encounter was super unprofessional and not what I would have expected from someone charging 36k and working on rodeo drive, but again, I let it slide.
After 3 weeks I had no improvement in my scar/skin necrosis so I started to worry. I’ve had multiple surgeries and my scars always heal insanely fast. I finally sent photos to several doctors and surgeons I know, which all immediately said it was skin necrosis and required immediate attention. I text Myriah about my concerns, and she had Dr. Kohan call me. He was beyond unprofessional asking me who had me worried (and even asking their credentials and if they were plastic surgeons because apparently doctors who aren’t done know anything about skin necrosis (false). He assured me it was normal (no) and would fall off, scab, and he would fix it.) Also told me he would call me in a cream in the morning, never did. Nobody contacted me. Knowing what I know now, I see why he accused me of smoking (a huge cause of skin necrosis) instead of owning it, addressing it with me one of the two times he saw me post surgery when it was very obviously there.
Here I am four weeks later, no progress, still can’t stand up straight and had to see another plastic surgeon to help me out. Had he just owned up to it and said “hey this happened and here’s why”, I would have been fine, but clearly trying to blame me because of his ego… not a good look.
The level of service doesn’t match the price tag or location. I really wish I went with a different surgeon at this point. Please trust your gut.
