Been looking to get breast augmentation since my late teens and then added to my want list of a tummy tuck following having two babies. Due to life path, it hasn't been until now that the stars aligned to allow for this wish to finally come true - so close! I have literally spent at least the last 20 years or so researching procedures and looking at before and after photos of various surgeons - which definitely have gotten better over the years :)

Been saving for some time while paying off fixes to my home - including a new roof (not cheap). Scheduled my consult with Dr. Mark Markarian back at the end of February 2020. He was great about answering all my questions - there were a lot, lol. Found out that I would need to get a mammogram before being able to proceed. Then Covid happed! Was finally able to secure an appointment to complete the mammogram at beginning of November (they had a long patient backlog of appointments once opened up again). Didn't get results for a few weeks later....at which time elective surgery was closing down again!

It is now one year later since the first consult. Just scheduled a virtual and in-person consult for the end of March at which time I will be able to schedule surgery, finally!!!

Had my virtual consult yesterday. Was super easy - was given a link to upload a few photos from front and side of areas of concern. Not sure if helpful to anyone but was told a good estimate to determine size of implant is 150cc/cup size...but if your older like me, you may need to add 50cc just to fill out the stretched looser skin. Right now the estimate for me to go from about an A cup to full C, small D is between 350cc and 400 cc. Will make the final decision next Thursday during my in person consult. Was instructed to wear a non padded bra and tight t-shirt to try out the implant sizers. Heads up that the prices have gone up a little bit - guessing due to loss of income to the hospitals during the shutdown of elective surgery. Before covid, my surgery estimate was $21,000. Now it is $23,000. Glad I have been able to save enough to cover the extra. Keep in mind this covers all pre-op and post op appointments as well as for any potential correction surgeries if needed (not something anyone wants to think will happen but good to have that reassurance since this is a costly endeavor). Just got my appointment scheduled with my primary doctor to get the fit for operation sign off for beginning of April. Can't wait to get the operation scheduled! :D

In Office Consult - Getting Coser

Today I went in for the in person consult. Dr. Markarian was awesome, warm and welcoming as always - his hands are cold though lol. Super excited that the wait is almost over. With trying on sizer implant of 450cc, recommendation/decision is to go with the 500cc size due to loose skin from age, breast feeding two kids. Asked about getting lipo of the back after looking at so many before/after photos online (in general, not specifically Dr.Markarians!) where the post tummy tuck photos have a great result from front but show fat role or bumps in back which for me is not achieving symmetry which is definitely part of the point. For an add on this will be $5,000. So definitely keeping this in consideration. Was given the advise to not buy any additional garments for post surgery and measurements will be taken at 1 week post op (compression garments provided). Definitely looking into some items that may make the recovery more comfortable like pillows (wedge/body) to help with sleeping comfortably at an incline, protein/probiotic drinks for easy meals, body wipes to clean up before showers are allowed but also considering items like the a toilet seat riser and supplements (bromelain, vitamin C, Arnica) that I have seen others post as being good to haves. Anyone have other suggestions or advice??
