All Good but the scars ugh!!

My ears are kinda better, thank god I have long hair. I think from all of Harley's patients this has only happened to me. Very strange considering I've done everything right, I feel like I'm having a boxing match with my scars lol. Its so annoying but I'll wait and continue to work on them, worst case scenario in a few months I'll laser them if thats the best option. I feel really good, I feel and look like myself, I'm really happy. I want to share that I went to my Dermatologist the other day, had botox on my forehead to lift so my eyes look a bit wider and a bit under my lower eyelid to stop the wrinkling when I smile, she's really amazing. She asked me why didn't I have my lower and upper eyelids done... hmmm really? Anyway I know I'm going to eventually have my eyes done its actually hereditary. I'll get my eyes done when they start bothering me not because I'm already going under the knife and I want to take advantage of the moment, no thank you I don't work that way. Plus I have someone I'm watching here on RS who just does eyes and who I already met and had him dissolve some filler I was overfilled with (not by my dermatologist) who did a PERFECT job in NY.

I am glad to hear that your ears are better. I know it can be frustrating when it takes a while to heal. I feel the same way about my eyes and may get them done next year. I will have to try botox on my lower eyelids. I have the same wrinkling when I smile and I notice it more now that the rest of my face is better. I am sorry that you have had the problem with your scars. At least you have beautiful long hair that covers them. Best wishes.

Sorry about the scars - this ps is always a journey, right? Anyway, just wanted to say that you look truly beautiful. Wonderful result! Could pm me the name of your dermatologist? Congrats!

Hi and thank you for your kind words. Just so you know I've never had pimples but I had freckles and sun damage on my face and chest. My dermatologist is in Armonk NY Dr. Tchelebi and she's amazing. What turned things around for me was Obagi, my face is clear of freckles and all imperfections because of Obagi and that was about 10 years ago. I now normally purchase the travel size with Retn'a.

Quick question. Why did you chose Dr. Harley? I have gone for a consultation with another Plastic Surgeon in Charlotte but feel I need another consultation to get another opinion.
April 22, 2018
I was looking on this sight for a few years and I always came back to Dr. Harley. If I had to choose a reason I would say because he seemed to always be available post procedure, everyone spoke highly of him, the cost was low and his procedure fixed exactly what a wanted which was my turkey neck and jowls and nothing else, so my expectations were right on

May I ask who you have your consult with? I’m also curious how others choose their surgeons. I seem to have bad luck when I choose for myself.

Sorry I've been so crazy I've been missing in action. If you had the procedure I'm sure it went well. My hotel was not close to the docs office

Scars

famouslyfamous
My scars are red with brown because of hyper-pigmentation which happens to my olive skin and I'm so annoyed. Spoke to Dr. Harley is sending me a prescription for RetnA and Hydroquinone to apply to scars and to also continue applying the strips. Thank God I have long hair, I can't imagine having having to go out like this exposed. I also have some bumps behind my ears, I'm massaging them. I want to thank the ladies who reach out to see how I'm doing, to give me advice etc. This is really a great sight.

My skin is Olive as well and so far mine are fading. I wonder what he difference is? I’ve kept the silicone tape on 24-7
March 2, 2018
how long after did you start seeing the scars fading? I’m wearing the tape 24/7 also. thank you for reaching out!

I’m at 3 weeks and they were lighter after the scabs came off. I also massage scar cream on them after I shower and whenever the tape is off.

Hi, I was wondering how you are doing and if the RetinA and Hydroquinone is working. I have a lot less swelling now, so my skin is softening. I like that look better, but some of the wrinkles are coming back, which I was expecting. I am still happy with the results. I hope that you are doing well.
March 2, 2018
hi there! I’m posting pictures today, I see a slight difference but I think it’s still to soon. I also have a lot less swelling, I still don’t have feeling in some areas of my face. Even with the scar issues I would do it again. thank you for reaching out!!
March 2, 2018
I still can't get over the difference. You look sooooo young & your skin is gorgeous. How are your scars? tape, which I still use, helps the most. I find my scars are really good some days & other days stand out more. Vit C irritates them I think, but heals them as well - so if you are using that as a topical, maybe try it at night - alternating w/retin A or retinol. I'm thinking the hydroquinone does the same - don't use myself.
You are way early to be concerned. With your healthy skin, it shouldn't take long. How is everything else?

I'm not complaining!

Just want to point out a few things... So obviously you're really swollen for awhile after the procedure, face pretty filled in. My neck looked perfect and now it looks like its falling into place, I mean look what I use to look like, aweful. So like I've said before I went into this with just wanting to look natural and a little fix and that's exactly what I got.
I'm wondering if my scars should be looking better by this point?

I see the pouch under your chin - you still look amazing. Have you asked DH about it??
February 17, 2018
I haven’t spoken to him about it because I decided to wait a bit but I will probably reach out on Tuesday to ask about the scars and pouch

it could be swelling around the sutures under your neck. Text Dr Harley and ask, he’s been quick to respond to all my questions and concerns.
February 17, 2018
thanks so much it didn’t occur to me to tx him, I’ll look to see if I have his cell, thank you!!!
February 17, 2018
I have Dr.Harley's text number if you need it. I had texted him to get some antibiotics for a sore feeling on my jaw. You can barely see the scars in front of my ears now. Is the picture of your scars recent or after the surgery? One side healed faster than the other. I am not wearing the strips any more except under my chin. I have a little bit of pouching return in the jowl area, but nothing like before the surgery.
February 18, 2018
yes if you don’t mind I would like to ask him about my concerns. hmm my scars are still visible wonder why. the last pics I posted are from yesterday. I’m sure once the swelling is gone some things do come back like you said but I’m also ok, the before is so much worst in my case. Anyway, thanks for responding and I’ll reach out to him once I have his number and thanks again
February 18, 2018
February 18, 2018
thank you o much for responding, I’m worried now ugh, did you do anything different besides using the strips? that’s all I did. I just rubbed them a little with soap and it’s very noticeable and red jeez
February 18, 2018
The only thing I did was to put some antibiotic gel on the scars, partly because I had been rubbing the scabs a bit. I put a little Mederma (scar ointment) on them too, but not enough to make a difference because they were healing nicely. I stopped wearing the strips to work by last Wednesday, because they were not very visible. If the scars are red, I would try putting antibiotic ointment on them (Neosporin). BTW - I still have some swelling on the sides of my face and that did not seem make a difference with the scars. I used peroxide on the scars behind my ears as the Neosporin was getting in my hair.
February 18, 2018
Neosporin is a great idea I’ll get some, my sides are a bit numb and a little swollen but way better. I’ll also get peroxide just in case. I’m going to post pictures again to help others. if you c my ear scars you’ll be surprised to see they haven’t really faded. Hubby wants me to reach out today but I’m hesitant since it’s Sunday but maybe I will what the heck. Thank god I don’t work because the strips are the only thing covering it
February 18, 2018
Give the Neosporin 24 hours to start working. You may want to alternate the Neosporin and peroxide to speed things up. Let me know how it goes or if Dr. Harley thinks you should do something else.

I was told we can put Retin-A on the scars to help lighten them.
February 18, 2018
Hi, let me start by saying oh look 15 years younger! Amazing difference! I wouldn’t be so worried about the scars being red when you are still so early out. Everyone heals differently and depending on your skin your scars may be redder for longer. You should definitely reach out to Dr. H. so he can tell you what he thinks. He is for sure the best person to ask since he has done just a few these before :) I kept the strips on my scars for 3-4 months just because. Once again you look amazing!
February 19, 2018
Please let us know what he says. It looks like a concentrated pocket of swelling? Otherwise, gorgeous! :)
February 19, 2018
ok so first I want to say I love this sight, love the ladies on here and am very appreciative. He is such a nice Dr. he really is, life would be so much better if more Drs were like him, so easy to talk to. He said that because of my olive skin I’m developing pigmentation around my ears, according to him it doesn’t happen often ugh great. have to pickup retnA and hydroquinone to apply to the ears and under my chin. He’s right about the pigmentation it has a dark tint to it and red. Its going to take a bit to clear. He also said I should always use the RetnA on my face and neck to keep my skin nice. I have always use Obagi which I swear by and I add those same ingredients.
February 19, 2018
I am glad that you talked to Dr. Harley and he was helpful. As we have heard before, we all heal differently. It is a good reminder about using RetinA for our skin, so I hope that helps as it sounds like it will help all of our skin anyway. I hope that works for you. I accidently rolled on my side last night and it seemed to be ok - not that I want to do this all of the time for awhile. Please keep in touch.
February 21, 2018
Hi. I have the same concern as well i am prone for hyperpigmentation. What brand of retin a and hydroquinone u are currenly using? My surgery is coming up. I want to get everything ready. Thanks
February 21, 2018
I haven’t received the prescription yet, I decided to wait because they’re sending a coupon to avoid paying about $200
February 21, 2018
I’m very concerned bout my scars now, of course I’ve been reading up on it and it could take awhile to get better. I’m calling my dermatologist tomorrow who I trust immensely to see what she thinks. I’m also a bit concerned about the bumps behind my ears. From what I’ve read I need to give my ear area and chin some time which I understand but im playing it on the safe side and asking for a second opinion. Make sure you ask at what point you should start applying the cream if need be
February 21, 2018
it’s getting close for you so I will reach out as soon as I receive the prescriptions
February 21, 2018
vit c (topically) can help w/lightening too
February 21, 2018
Thank you so much. @ canleen i am using vit c every night as part of my routine but i havent try retain yet as i thought i dont need it for now as i dont have any premature lines that concerns me. I didn't know retain a can also lighten the scar as well as hydroquinone. Thank goodness for this site. I learn new stuff everyday.
