Minilifting with SMAS Repositioning
I had what in Brazil is called a minilifting with SMAS repositioning. The procedure was done on May 7th. Today is post-op day 39, and I’m feeling very frustrated with my appearance.
I feel like I’ve stopped deflating. I don’t recognize myself in photos. I’ve lost 3 kilos during recovery and I’m currently at a weight I haven’t been in 14 years — in other words, my face should look leaner. But instead, it looks round, puffy, and chubby, as if I had gained weight. I weigh 68 kilos, but my face looks like someone who weighs 80.
I don’t know if this is still swelling or something else. As I said, I’m on day 39 post-op, and I don’t know whether I still have a lot of swelling left to go down, or if what I’m seeing now is close to the final result — which would be very frustrating. I had this surgery to achieve a more refined face, with sharper contours, but what I’m seeing is the opposite: a fuller, rounder, more bloated face.
The neck area is indeed looking better, but I just don’t recognize my face anymore. I’ve read in forums that this is a common feeling among patients who’ve had a facelift or minilift with SMAS repositioning — especially around weeks 6 and 7 — but I’m not sure if that’s my case. All I know is that it’s been emotionally draining.
Thank you.
