Hi everyone. My name is Norma and im 31 yrs old. Im a mother of 4 lovely kids. I decided to get a tummy tuck because after working out with zumba I did lose some weight but my belly was still flabby.

Im 5'3" 140 lbs before surgery. I had my surgery on March 20, 2013. I have to say it really is a painful procedure. Im two wks post-op and im still very swollen and hunched. Even though im walking a bit faster im still walking like an old person. I like how my tummy is starting to look and I finally can see my belly button again! Yay!!! Well does anyone know of good remedies on the swelling? Dr. Blake says everyone is different but I can't wait to heal.

Unfortunately, you will pretty much have to wait out the swelling. You can try cutting sodium, there are tea's you can try, like Detox tea or Dandelion root tea or PMS tea. Also just trying to take it easy. I'm almost 11 weeks and still have swelling and know that it can go on for as long as a year, but I have read that 3 months is a possibility too. Hang in there and take it easy. Did you take before pictures? I go back and look at my before pics and realize how great I look, even with some swelling and it gets me through! Good luck and happy healing!

Thank you so much dragonfly88 for the advice. I sometimes tend to hesitate. I did take before & after pics & i also like the shape its starting to form. I just need to be patient. If I may ask are you already walking straight? If so how long did it take?

Oh gosh, yes I'm upright. Probably very soon you will be. Work on standing straight, a little each day, but don't push too hard. Right around the 2 to 3 week mark. Though you will find yourself hunched by the end of the day, just from fatigue, won't be a huge deal. One of the things the nurse told me to do was to stand with my back against a wall and try to stand up straight against it. It took probably 2 weeks before I could do it(and I would do it once or twice a day for a few seconds) but it helped to stretch out the abs. Just another note, if you haven't looked at my review, I have bought bikini's to wear this summer, (even though we aren't supposed to tan for awhile), and even with the swelling I have, I would totally be seen in them now! Feel free to private message me if you need to! Hang in there!

My surgery was 1 day before yours. I'm more swollen today than I have been, and from what I hear, it will get worse. I have heard weeks 5 and 6 are the worst? I hate to think about that knowing how swollen I am now. I do know that your always flattest first thing in the am. Well, hope it gets better for both of us fast! Happy healing.

I did notice that today when I woke up I wasnt swollen at all but like around 4:00 pm I started to swell up and walk hunched and at a slow paste. Im really looking forward to recovery.

Welcome to the tummy tuckers.

The only remedy for swelling is time and patience.  You will get there soon enough.  Also, make sure you watch your sodium intake and drink plenty of water.  Processed foods are horrible so stay clear if you can.

I am happy you joined us:)

Well im 3 wks post op & I have to say im doing just fine. Im starting to walk a little more straight. Still hunched specially in the evenings also the swelling is worse in the evenings. Pain just a lil from time to time. The incision is healing well. I wish I knew how to post pictures. Just to show the progress. Oh god I cant wait for the swelling to leave. But I do admit im loving the way im starting to look.
