WORTH IT
I researched, planned, and waited for years before doing this. So far, absolutely worth it. I never had thick brows to begin with, then there was over plucking in high school. Lots of attempts at permanent make-up, which I never liked. Entering my forties, my already high forehead seemed to be getting higher. It is clear in the before picture that my brows are too thin and forehead too high.
The procedure itself was less painful than I was expecting. I had valium and slept through most of the day. The next few days are a bit uncomfortable (sleeping is the worst), but you will have pain meds. I'm just over two weeks post-op now. The worst part is the incision to the back of the head. I'm still red where the hairs were placed, but it hides easily with make up. I wear a hat every time I leave the house.
It will take many months before I know what the final outcome looks like. I will definitely post more pictures then. For now, I could not be happier. The eyebrow design was absolutely perfect for my face (one reason I chose to work with a plastic surgeon and not a dermatologist). The hairline is also flawless. I was so excited about the brows I didn't pay much attention to the hairline, but my doctor delivered beautiful results.
Barring any issues that might develop over the next few months, this procedure was absolutely worth it. Choose your provider carefully, though. I do not believe I would be this happy had I elected to work with someone closer to home or less expensive. I believe this is a once in a lifetime investment and I wanted to work with the best.

5 months post op, no makeup
Right brow coming in flatter and thicker than left brow. I trim about twice a week. Use a mustache wax to keep them flat. At this stage, i’m not thrilled with how many hairs want to grow in strange angles, especially on my left brow. Overall, though, I am very happy with the shape and overall effect. I would do it again.

Thanks so much for sharing the updated shot! Obviously it's hard to discern the detail that you can see yourself in terms of hair angles/direction. However, as someone who is a total perfectionist with high standards (as I sounds like you are too) I can tell you honestly that the brow shape and thickness has given your face such a youthful effect. You were already very beautiful before but easily look 10 years younger with this new brow shape. Thanks so much for sharing.

How is your training of the brows coming along? Did you have any shock loss of your original hairs? I had a procedure in march with a diff dr, I lost some native hairs that have not grown in and have many bare areas. I'm contemplating a procedure with dr Epstein to fill/fix. Are you still happy with his work? Did they give you any tips on training? Thank you for your review!

Beautiful! If they look this good at 5 months, they will be absolutely gorgeous at 7-8 months. Thanks for posting.

Hi There! It's a couple of months on from your last and I was just wondering how your brows are doing now? They must be almost fully grown in my now - hope they are looking great. Would be amazing to see some updated pics at some stage if you were happy to share them.

Make-up free photos just posted. I will post a couple with make-up soon. Probably the last pics I'm going to post. I'm at 7 months, so I don't expect to see significant growth anymore.

Latest pictures
These are probably the last photos I will upload. It has been almost 7 months since the procedure, and I believe this is the final result. I am wearing no makeup in these pictures. I will post one more picture with make-up shortly, although I usually go without. My absolute favorite benefit to this procedure (besides the fact that I look so much younger) is that I can get ready in about 10 minutes. Even if I'm putting make-up on, the shape is already there and I just have to follow it. The brows look a bit uneven in the close-ups, but they are not. The full face picture offers a better idea of how they look overall. Couldn't be happier!

Thanks so much for posting the pics! You look incredible - the shape is perfect and it truly is amazing how much of an overall difference they make to your face. You look stunning! Thanks so much for sharing your journey through to your final results - it's appreciated!!

You are so welcome! It's a really big decision, especially when you are flying in from Australia. Please let me know if you decide to do it.

You look wonderful. In my opinion the new eyebrows have made you look ten years younger. Amazing! Your new eyebrows also suit your face perfectly. The arch and the length seem perfect. Was it $7500 for just the eyebrows? Or did that include your hairline? I think your hairline looks a lot more natural than the forehead reduction surgeries I have seen. Is the thinner hair at the back of your head (where the transfer Hair was taken from) ever an issue? I’m wondering if it’s a problem if you ever put your up or pull it back etc.

$7500 did not include the hairline. I knew I wouldn't consider a forehead reduction. I lost a lot of hair over the last couple of years. I simply wanted to restore the hairline I had previously. The hair in the back is a bit awkward. I live outside - hiking, mountain biking, yoga. My lifestyle is mostly ponytails and baseball hats, so the growing out process had not been too terrible. However, when I do go out and try to dress up, I find I have to be careful to style the back of my hair just so. A small price to pay. I have some important appointments coming up over the next several months, so my hairdresser (who is amazing) has offered to correct the situation with a few extensions. She is the extension guru, so i suspect it will turn out beautifully. If I had a lifestyle that demanded I look put together every day, I would probably use extensions for the growing out process. It's not essential, but it would be helpful.

Just one more super quick question about your references to the back of your head. When you talked about growing back/covering was that because you did the FUE where they shave parts before extracting the hairs, so need to wait for those areas to grow back? Or did you have the FUT method where they cut out a little bit of the scalp and sew it up again? Thank you!

I should know this, but I don't - sorry. The hair on the back of my head is a bit choppy, but i have fairly long hair, so I am able to hide it. I usually use a pony tail or put it up, but I can also straighten it and blend it and wear it down. Really not that inconvenient. The back of my head did hurt for about a week after the procedure. Nothing too painful. If you do use Dr. Epstein, just ask him to advise you - that is what you are paying for, his expertise.

Thanks so much for that. My hair is long and fairly too so like you I doubt it would be too much of an issue either. But yes, it's definitely something I can talk to Dr Epstein about. Thanks again!

They look great! I'm glad it turned out well for you. It's always hard to see all the detail in the pictures...did the wild hairs you mentioned in your earlier post grow or lay flat in the direction you wanted? Do you use any gel on them at night to train them? I had a previous procedure and many hairs grew straight out. I'm considering Dr. Epstein for a "fix/fill procedure". Thank you for post!

I purchased a mustache wax on advice from others who had the procedure. I did not like the feel of it, so I quit using it. It didn't work very well anyway. I'm not sure it is actually possible to train the hairs to stay down. I think a lot of people are having second eyebrow treatments, particularly if they pluck out all the straight hairs. I wouldn't touch mine without first checking in with the doctor and making certain a second treatment was advisable. What if the second set sticks out as well?

You look great! Did Dr. Epstein suggest a second session to 'fill in' areas in brow or scalp that may not come in?---Does he do the PRP for hair growth that many post on?
Love your arches...

I will not need a second session for my hair line. The shape is perfect and the texture is thick. The only way I will need a second eyebrow treatment is if I pluck out some of the straighter hairs. Perhaps I will consider that in a couple of years. Currently, I'm enjoying the overall effect and simply keep the straight ones trimmed very short so they aren't such a nuisance. I am using rogain to keep the growth strong, and will apparently use this for the rest of my life.

Thanks so much. I definitely will keep you posted if/when I go ahead and book the procedure in. For now, let me just say again thanks so much for sharing your pics and also how awesome you look in these pics. The shape is great - one of the things I really liked from your review was how you talked about how Dr Epstein knew the right shape for your face - probably due to him being a plastic surgeon who understands facial features and symmetry. And also the kindness of the doctor and his staff - I've never had any kind of surgery before so I need that bedside manner.

I also had some poorly done permanent make-up that had to be lasered off. I was too through with permanent make-up. That is why I knew the time was right to invest in something of higher quality and longer lasting. I cannot recommend Dr. Epstein and his staff enough. I realize you would be flying in from the other side of the world (I only flew in from the other side of the country), but I felt his portfolio of eyebrow work was worth travelling for.
I received excellent pain management. I don't even remember most of the day. There was a bit of pain during recovery, but it didn't last more than a couple of weeks. Also, I have no tolerance for pain. Recovery probably doesn't bother the average person at all.
Good luck with your decision! I'll post more pics when there is something to show.
Yes, if I could go back in time I'd never have done microblading in the first place - I would have just kept filling in my brows with powder myself and appreciated what I naturally had. I totally agree about Dr Epstein's portfolio - he definitely seems to be the best out there and when it comes to eyebrow transplants there seems to be a vast difference between good work and odd looking results. In terms of the travel I actually have been travelling back and forth to LA for removal treatments already - this eyebrow disaster has made a huge dent in my savings but I couldn't find anyone here who had great independent removal reviews so Miami isn't that much further. I'm currently still healing from removal treatment two but the transplant might be something I'd seriously consider next year. Like you this would be a big decision for me but at least if you go to someone as good as Dr Epstein you would know you are giving yourself the best chance of great results. All the best of luck with your recovery/regrowth - your initial pics look great so fingers crossed you're super happy with the final results!
