I previously had a breast lift with implants...
I previously had a breast lift with implants performed about 5 years ago. Over the last year, I noticed that my left breast seemed abit asymetrical and immediately started to think that I was suffering from capsular contracture. I notified the original surgeon and was asked to come in for a consult. I went to his office and he performed "closed capsulotomy" which means he squeezed my breast/ implant until an audible pop was heard. This was extremely painful. I was told after the closed capsulotomy treatment that I would need to undergo a series of of eternal ultrasound treatments to reduce the contracture from returning (these treatments were 3000 dollars a series). I did the treatment and two months later...the capsular contracture returned and now more prominent.
I consulted with Dr. Hochstein as I was losing trust in the original surgeon. Dr. Hochstein was incredibly professional. Prior to meeting with Dr. Hochstein, I thought my current results with my existing breast lift/ implants were the best that could be achieved given the amount of ptosis I had prior to the original surgery. Dr. Hochstein was confident that he would be able to acheive a better result. I was exicted that I might have a better lift and more symmetrical breasts!! Dr. Hochstein recommended that I use SERI in the breast that showed capsular contracture which I had no problem financing if this would prevent or lessen my chances of having capsular contracture in the future.
My surgery was 4 days ago and today was the first day I visited with Dr. Hochstein post surgery. Dr. Hochstein made me aware that the previous surgeon had actually not placed my implants underneath the muscle and this might have contributed to the capsular contraction. Dr. Hochstein also made me aware that he didn't need to use the SERI because of this and agreed to credit my account for the fee of the SERI. I was so impressed with Dr. Hochstein!! He could have easily not mentioned this fact or still used the SERI, but he is so professional and honest. I am so grateful to have had him perform my revision surgery. The results are fantastic. My breasts are extemely perky and the shape is spectacular!! I never knew they could look like this. I am still shocked when I look down at them :) My final size was Natrelle 15 397cc in each breast.
Choosing a plastic surgeon is scary because I really researched the previous surgeon and honestly you never know despite board certifications or other academic merits. I was told from my previous surgeon that my implants originally were placed underneath the muscle and I would have never known without Dr. Hochstein's input. I am writing this review for anyone who is trying to narrow down which surgeon should perform a breast revision or rhinoplasty (I had Dr. Hochstein perform a rhinoplasty earlier this year and was extremely happy with the results). If you are thinking about going with Dr. Hochstein, trust me you will not be dissapointed, he is a truly talented surgeon and more importantly, he is an honest person.

Provider Review
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Hochstein gives the patient the floor whenever he consults. He leaves it up to the patient to ask questions. Some might interpret this as an awkward bedside; however, I believe he is giving the patient a chance to be involved in treatment. As patients, we short change ourselves if we just leave it up the surgeon. It should be a two way dialogue so neither party is left feeling unsure about expectations of treatment.
