My 1st breast augmentation (with another surgeon)...

My 1st breast augmentation (with another surgeon) was in 2014 - 28 years old, no kids, yo-yo weight lost and gained for years, and my breasts had essentially deflated.

I made a rash decision, didn't research at all, didn't search for reviews on the surgeon, nothing. Please don't make the same mistake I did - you will pay economically, emotionally, psychologically and physically for it.

I had 215CC placed on top of the muscle, high profile, through the nipple, silicone.

NOTE: over the muscle the implants feel REALLY hard, and it's so uncomfortable being with someone. They are like rocks. Also, they are only held by skin and breast tissue, and if your skin is thin, like mine, they will start dropping. My nipples expanded enormously, I lost feeling in one breast for almost 2 years, and I still don't have it fully back. One dropped more than the other one, so I had uneven breasts. Because they were on top of the muscle, they looked fake when I was laying down they stood up completely, and when I opened my arms, they would fully separate. It was horrible. I could basically grab the whole implant, through my skin. I was also left with a big white scar, because the surgeon I picked was not good at what she did.

After 2 years of researching and meeting with several doctors in the US, Europe and South America, I decided that Dr. Sam Gershenbaum was THE ONE to do what I needed to get done. All the other doctors either promised me the sun and the moon immediately, or said my only option was getting a breast lift (lollipop) to solve my problem. After meeting 2 or 3 times with Dr. G. we came to a deal - he would not do a lift, and I would not get my hopes up too much. He said the results would definitely be better, but not a lot better. I'm 30 years old, with no kids, single, I was not willing to have big scars in my breasts, so I was happy with a "a little better" solution - that was better than nothing.

Profile: I hated the high profile - it makes them look extremely fake, so I wanted something more natural, and went for the Moderate Plus, which was great for my body structure.

Size: The size I had before was good, so I didn't want to change that, really. I went for 235CC. Please note that under the muscle, and with a lower projection it feels as if they were smaller, but in reality they are bigger than before (a tiny bit).

Incision: Nipple - I already had those scars, so it wouldn't make sense to get new ones. He took the old scars out, and did an excellent job with the new ones. They are barely noticeable compared the the other ones. NOTE: invisible scars don't exist - you will have a scar no matter how amazing the suture was.

Under the Muscle: Please chose under the muscle, always! My breasts, from the very first day after the surgery, have been SO SOFT! I can barely feel the implants. Before, I would feel the implants completely, they were rock solid, and I never felt them as mine. Now, I can't believe the difference between the 2!

Silicone: I chose silicone implants, once again, because of the more natural feel. I can't comment too much on this, because I don't know how saline implants would be under the muscle. Silicone implants over the muscle were hard.

Asymmetry: Dr. G. fixed my asymmetry and droopiness with internal sutures!! I didn't have to go through a breast lift. I still can't believe it. You can see the results in my pics. To achieve the results, he operated on me, while I was in a "sitting up" position for an hour (out of the 3 hours that my surgery lasted).

Strattice: I have Strattice mesh in both my breasts now - it helps with lifting them, and preventing capsular contracture from happening. It also makes them feel softer, from what I understand.

Sensation: I have full sensation on both my breasts, except for what I had already lost in the first surgery (which I'm already used to). My nipples' sensation hasn't changed at all.

Nipples: The change for under the muscle and moderate plus implants made my nipples get smaller, but still not back to the size they were before any surgeries.

ADVICE:
-Do extensive research on what you need and want: profile, size, over or under the muscle, incision area, silicone vs saline, natural vs fake look, etc.
-Meet with 2-3 doctors before picking the one you feel most comfortable with - definitely go and see Dr. Sam Gershenbaum, if you are in Miami.
-Make sure they are experts in the surgery that you need.
-Write down questions before your appointments, and don't be afraid of asking anything and everything. It's your body and you have to make sure you're doing the best you can for it.
-Understand it will never be perfect - you are most likely trading an issue for a new and smaller one (ie. scars, having a weird object in your body, sensation loss, etc).
-Your body will change - get ready for it. My breasts now start at a lower level than before, and bras touch on ribs they didn't touch before. You'll get used to it.
-Stay away from the sun for as long as you can, while the scar heals. Make sure you use silicone for the scar.

Dr. G has been an excellent doctor. He was very clear from the beginning, regarding what my real options were, and how realistic my expectations could be. He didn't try to sell me anything, in fact, he said I should not expect a massive improvement. I was so used to doctors being very excited about the surgery, giving me all the hope in the world, that meeting Dr. G at the beginning was different and refreshing (and a bit daunting). I soon understood that he's not here to sell you something that's not realistic, he's here to do the best job that he can with what's on the table... and he did. Absolutely amazing work - actually exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anybody who asks. I also have to mention Eyra Little, who has been an incredible support throughout this experience. Very warm, easy going, kind, and knowledgeable. She has helped me immensely from the very beginning. Thank you both for all the help - my life has definitely improved!
