Provider Review
I'm a 5'9" 125 lb woman in my 50's. I had a breast augmentation in my 20's with saline implants (from an A to a B cup). Both breasts ended up with the worst sort of capsular contracture (Baker IV), which was so painful and hard I could not even stand to have a mammogram. I suffered for years until I finally had had enough and asked a local surgeon to remove the implants along with the capsules. The surgery was successful, but left me extremely deformed. My breasts were concave and adhered to my chest wall - they looked as if you had crumpled up pieces of paper and stuck them on my chest. I asked the surgeon for help, and he told me he could not help me as I was a "complicated case" and told me to go to doctors in Boston, Philadelphia or Miami. For an entire year, every time I looked at myself after a shower, tears would well up in my eyes. I did not feel attractive or that I would ever be able to allow anyone to see me without clothes again. I read the online reviews about Dr. Mancoll and set up a consultation appointment. I honestly didn't think he would be able to do much about my situation, but I was so desperate to look normal again that I was willing to do just about anything. Dr. Mancoll was incredibly warm, personable and honest during the consultation. He understood the situation immediately and gave me a number of options, one of which was to do Vaser liposuction on various areas to obtain enough fat for transfer to my breasts. I really wanted to have normal looking breasts that felt natural. I didn't care about the size; all I wanted was to have breasts that didn't look deformed. He understood what I wanted and told me he would do his best; we both knew I didn't have a lot of extra fat available anywhere on my body for the transfer. He asked me to provide him with a picture of my "wish breasts" that he could refer to during surgery so that he could give me what I hoped for. I did so, but also tried to "manage my expectations" and told him that I'd be happy with an "A" cup as long as my breasts looked normal. I also told him that the shape was more important to me than the size. Well, I am here to tell you - he is a miracle worker! Somehow, he was able to harvest enough viable fat to not only shape my breasts to my specifications, but also to add enough volume so that I am actually larger than I was with implants! I honestly don't know how he did it, but my breasts have never looked better. I woke up from surgery as a D cup (what a shock!) and am now a C cup after the swelling went down. It's been almost 3 months since the surgery, so I expect that I will keep this fullness. My breasts are actually much more attractive now than they have ever been (including with implants!) because they are shaped perfectly. They are warm, soft and move like real breasts. He is amazing - and has an artistic eye. I could not have asked for a better outcome! And the liposuctioned areas really look good - no divots or strange lumps. I do advise anyone who is thinking of doing this to remember that nothing comes without a price - because I had to have so many areas liposuctioned to obtain enough fat, there was significant pain and recovery time associated with the procedure. I took 10 days off from work and still felt fragile when I went back (although some of that was due to trying not to lift anything). There was also extensive bruising (especially on the legs) which took some time to fade - don't expect to be able to sit down without pain for a couple of weeks after the procedure. Not to mention the compression garment - don't get me started! But honestly - I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am so grateful to him for his talent and artistry as a surgeon - thanks for giving me back my self esteem, Dr. Mancoll!
