10 months post op, revision tomorrow

Here are the results of my initial tummy tuck surgery 10 months post op. Extremely happy with how everything has healed and having flat abdomen. A few months post initial surgery my surgeon identified the potential need for a revision on my flanks but suggested we wait a decent amount of time ensure all swelling went down. My second operation will be a revision of the flanks (removing more skin with liposuction) and extended my scar further around my back this time to achieve a more contoured waist line and reduction of flanks.

Male Tummy Tuck

Let’s start off with a little background info on myself:

I’m a 25yo male who achieved a 90lb weight loss prior to my tummy tuck operation. For the past few years I’ve been very active and follow a healthy diet (gym 5-6 days a week, outdoor running, high protein/fat & low carb diet, combined with intermittent fasting). Unfortunately my skin elasticity couldn’t withstand my excessive weight gain during my childhood (245lbs heaviest to 162lbs pre-op). After realizing that the loose skin and protruding belly couldn’t be resolved without surgery, I began looking into abdominoplasty surgeons in the San Diego area (my hometown though I live in San Francisco currently) because I knew I would need to be taken care of the first few days by a relative (my mother in this case). My surgeon from start to finish in regards to the operation always made me feel very assured and at ease during all my office visits leading up to the surgery.

Although the first few days were extremely rough, the results observed at my 4 day post op visit made me realize it was so worth it. I had my loose skin removed, muscles tightened, and liposuction (with my scar line extending past my sides/flanks. The recovery process following this operation is by no means easy, expectedly I took about 18 days off work. The first 3 days I was bed ridden, by day 6 I was walking upright again (slight hunching still), and by day 14 I felt relatively “normal”. Along with easing into walking again and feeling of tightness in your core area, not being able to shower with drains in place, and the extreme itching I experienced from my core binder and gauze/tape in place was intense for myself. Overall I have to say all of the discomfort has been worth it so far.

The photos I’m sharing in this initial review are my pre-op photo (night before op) and post-op photo (4 days post). I will share updated photos closer to my 1 month mark. Thanks for reading!
