Breast lift revision - to be clear
I want to be sure to mention this was a complicated breast lift revision and not a regular breast implant revision. This option was not available in the drop down menu when posting my review. The process was much more complex and laborious then a regular breast implant revision. It wasn't cheap but It was worth every penny!

This is what I looked like when I went to see Dr. Rahban about a revision.
I decided to get breast implants in my late 30's...
I decided to get breast implants in my late 30's while living in Florida. I was referred to a plastic surgery clinic by my dermatologist's staff. They said they'd recently had a patient come in with fabulous results after her mommy makeover. I called the office inquiring about a consultation with that doctor but the "representative" (sales person) said that she had moved on from the clinic and was possibly in Europe. The sales person practically promised me the moon to get me to come in and see the practicing plastic surgeon.
Once I got to my appointment, I was showered with attention...there for hours. The office (The Clinique of Plastic Surgery) was so luxurious and beautiful. They seemed so accommodating as they offered me drinks. I sat down with the sales girl and discussed what I wanted while she gave me a super hard sales pitch. This woman would have been perfect selling used cars. I met with the doctor and he drew his plans out with a magic marker. I asked him specifically for tear drop shaped implants placed under the muscle. He said I needed a mini lift and he would place the implants through my areolas and and on top of the muscle instead of behind. Wow...this wasn't what I had bargained for. I was comforted by other members of the staff who told me that he had preformed this procedure on them, and they were very happy with the results. I thought doctor knows best, right? Wrong. I wrote them a non-refundable check to reserve my surgery date. When I think of how naive I was, I want to cringe.
The results of the procedure were a huge let down. The implants were to big and the skin around my stitches formed a gaping wound because of the weight. The wound morphed into awful hypertrophic scars. I also had liposuction to my abdomen and flank area. I didn't see any results but noticed the skin on my abdomen became saggy and looked awkward. I looked awful but tried to be patient since it was too soon to see the full results.
One year later I had capsular contracture of my right breast. The left one was much lower. My nipples were scarred and stretched out. I contacted the office regarding a revision. They weren't quite as inviting this time around. The doctor agreed to the revision as long as I paid for the anesthesia which was around 2K. He preformed my revision using the exact same technique and the same implants. Results: exactly the same…I had only put my body through more trauma.
I became depressed and discouraged. I attributed my results to genetics, poor healing and bad luck. I gained weight and stopped exercising. I was mortified at the thought of getting a pap smear or mammogram because I would have to disrobe. I would walk quickly past mirrors without looking at myself. Needless to say, my sex life suffered. I decided to seek out a revision with a new doctor after feeling this way for years.
I started doing online research and I did a lot of it. I thought, this time I'm doing my homework! Over the course of two years, I looked at thousands of before and after pictures, (Thank you Real Self!), researched hundreds of doctors and read countless reviews. I had consults with a few surgeons who seemed to be at a loss about how to attempt my revision. After endlessly researching online, I kept coming back to one surgeon...Dr. Rahban.
I finally made an appointment and to my surprise, my experience was completely different from the initial one in Florida. First of all, there was no hard sale. His staff was so professional, kind and respectful. Dr Rahban was very straight forward, confident and relatable. He was meticulous, creative, skillful. After all, he wasn't starting out with a blank canvas. My breasts were deformed from the capsular contracture (2nd time around) and the scarring around my areolas. He had asked me if my doctor in Florida was still in business. :0
My surgery lasted over 4 hours. He told me that unlike most doctors who had six to ten implants in the operating room, that he had over one hundred. He didn't know what size implant he would end up using, only promised me he would work towards getting the absolute best results. I trusted him. After my surgery, I was sure I had lollypop scars. I couldn't believe my eyes when we finally took off the bandages and my incisions were only through the areolas. The size he chose was perfect and my old scars were gone. He was very strict with his after care instructions. He actually cared what my results turned out to be. I feel blessed to have found such a competent and skillful surgeon to preform my revision. I feel lucky this time around. Thank you Dr. Rahban for an amazing improvement and for venturing where other surgeons didn’t know where to begin!
