I had recently scheduled a consultation with Dr. Shad-Desai, because I read very good reviews about her here on RS. Her assistant/PA Lindsey has informed me about the price of the consultation - 250 pounds, which is quite a big sum, I have asked whether this amount is a fixed one because from another RS patient I've heard he paid 200 pounds, she replied the price is not negotiable nor redeemable (the reason I asked because with another great top notch oculoplastic surgeon in Beverly Hills it was possible). At my visit in her office in London I felt that it wasn't the warmest welcome I could receive, doctor listened to my worries, took notes,commented about my moderate ptosis and my other worries were unfortunately not discussed almost at all, she said she cannot comment about my aroudn eyes pigmentation problem because my skin was irritated at that moment (I had laser treatment cca 1 month before), it became red after I used de-make-up lotion, although I believe she could have given me some of her opinions regardless.. Then after cca 10-15 minutes she rushed to finish it, at the paying she commented that her fee was this high because the rent on Harley street is very expensive, oh dear..!! In general this consultation with Dr. Shah-Desai was a total waste of money for me, I did not learn or hear anything specific (from medical point of view) or new about my problem (actually I read so much more here on RS), she recommended me some fragrance free lotion to use for calming my irritated around the eyes skin after the laser treatment and that was more less it, after all I was paying 250 quid, she said her assistant would follow up with some additional information about the ptosis surgery, I haven't heard or received anything anymore.. I don't have problems to pay for good service(s) and I appreciate any expert's precious knowledge, I know it takes lot of time of studying and gaining experience, I have deep respect for smart experienced professionals, but I refuse to be treated disrespectfully, taken for granted! I was paying this significant amount of money so I was expecting to receive good service in return, to be treated with respect and receiving some specific precious information, which cannot be found on public forum.. This doctor regardless how much knowledge and experience she has or might have, unfortunately with me she wasn't correct, maybe she was biased, because I asked for reduction of the fee, but the way I was treated (rushed away, not receiving any advice) and then her comment about the expensive rent is bit too much to swallow for me..
