Through the years, I have had a couple of procedures on my lips to improve the unevenness and size which have gone awry and were undoubtedly not the right choice for me, causing extreme distortion, lengthening my philtrum, ruining my smile, and reducing tooth my show to nothing. The first mistake was allowing someone to inject silicone into my top lip. The second mistake was allowing a different surgeon to do a VY lip surgery, which unfortunately also proved disastrous. I have had countless additional surgeries to improve the situation and also, out of desperation, tried Juvederm and Restalyne injections to address volume differences. All of which has proven to make matters worse. I had a lip lift performed by another surgeon 2 years ago, which did help a bit by shortening the philtrum. Following that, I had 2 very conservative lip reductions to decrease the granulomas causing this ongoing problem. As time passes, my lip continues to drop and show fluctuating swelling daily, depending on my diet, exercise, and amount of sleep.

I find Dr. Hsu to be an extremely caring, educated, and knowledgeable individual with a good eye for esthetics. She conservatively suggested our first plan of action. Dr. Hsu performed another lip reduction and silicone removal in one corner. At 2 months out, I am pleased with the outcome. At no fault of her own, it’s not perfect and may never be, but it’s an admiral and pleasing outcome. I have no stiffness or nerve damage, my mouth functions normally, and I have enjoyed an instant improvement. I now have partial tooth show when smiling and can now use my teeth whitened with confidence! We are currently in discussions to possibly perform a revision lip lift in the upcoming months to tweak it further. Additionally, the surgical center she uses is a real treat, very comfortable with an amazingly friendly and caring staff to assist.
