I'm thrilled with my results - wish I had done it sooner

I'm 53 years-old and suddenly realized how long the space between my nose and mouth had gotten. It's always been something I noticed, but seemed to worsen after getting lip injections in an effort to lift my upper lip. All that did was make my lip heavier and protrude like a duck's bill. So when I stumbled on the lip lift procedure in December 2021, it was like the heavens had opened!
I found Dr. Matthew Richardson on Real Self and I'm so glad I did. He measured my philtrum at 22.5 mm and said I was a good candidate. He asked me if I wanted a drastic change or conservative - I told him conservative. But by the time my appointment came on 1/28/2022, we decided somewhere in-between. He took about 7mm off so now my philtrum is about 15mm. To me, the minor scar in return (I'm only 4 months post op) was TOTALLY worth it! And with Biocorneum and scar strips, I hope it will only continue to improve.
The biggest annoyance has been the tightness and skin pulling when I smile (and it gets worse as you heal.) It's uncomfortable and I feel like it's noticeable. When I whine to Dr. Richardson, he says he expects it to ease up around the 5,6 month mark. But in the meantime, he's totally understanding and has injected the scar with a steroid that releases the tension. (That stuff is like gold!) I would highly recommend Dr. Richardson to anyone contemplating this procedure. He's a specialist in lip-lifts! You'll wish you had done it sooner!

Added 2 more photos of my scar - this time without make-up. Easily covered. Still using Biocorneum and scar strips at the 4 month mark. For me, the scar was a small price to pay for losing 7mm of my philtrum.
