So happy 8 months later

Dr. Kim is a master. I am so happy with my results. The recovery is tougher than I expected, but the final result is so natural. I don’t have any fillers now. I’m so glad I went through with it. I don’t have any functional issues, and you can see from the last after that I posted (not edited) the scar is minimal.
The “afters” are 3-7 years older than the “befores” and I think I look younger now. I have had several procedures to get there, but the lip lift pulled it all together. (rhino, buccal fat excision, lip lift, Accutite and microbladed brows)

3 months post

I love my result. It is so natural and such an improvement. Dr. Kim did an incredible job. I would say that this recovery is hard. I am 12 weeks post, and even after 2 anti-swelling injections my lip is really stiff and smiling is hard. Trying to be patient, and it looks great at rest, but smiling is so strange and makes me self conscious. My surgeon says it is just a waiting game. :/

Healing Weeks 1-6

Stitches removed at day seven. All kinds of bruising, still very swollen. This is the one time that masks come in handy, because it’s seven days post there is no way you could realistically be seen in public. The swelling also impacts your nose, so expect it to be huge and distorted as well for a while.
Weeks 2-3:
Do yourself a favor and don’t try to guess what your final result is going to look like at this point. Well it is really exciting, I was worried about the shape, and trying to figure out how it was going to look. It is just way too soon to tell, so don’t torture yourself or your surgeon. At this point, the bruising starts to go away and for a short period of time the upper lip looks pretty good… But prepare yourself, because as you start to really heal, it gets worse for a while.
Weeks 4-5:
I was really swollen by week four, and my lip was stiff as a board. Your facial expressions are totally different, and you cannot smile. It feels very awkward and it’s pretty uncomfortable. At week four I had an anti-swelling injection. The injection itself hurt like hell. Multiple shots into a very swollen area, paired with the agent itself was not the most fun. My lip felt spicy all day, and swole further for about a week. I was expecting it to become less swollen pretty quickly, so this was a surprise. by week five it was back to pre-injection swelling and tightness, which was not great. My surgeon assured me that I was progressing normally.
Week 6:
Bye week six some of the swelling is finally going down! By this point you wouldn’t know if you saw me at rest that anything had been done. I am really excited about the lip shape, but I still cannot smile, and my movement is not great. My surgeon says I am more swollen than most. I will have at least one more anti-swelling injection, potentially more. however, by this point, I am really excited about the results. Dr. Kim did an amazing job, and it has completely changed how I hold my mouth, and while subtle, has made such a huge difference already and how confident I feel. I didn’t realize how much my top lip had really been bothering me until I started to seriously consider the procedure.
This recovery is on par with my rhinoplasty so far. It has been a pretty tough one, and if we were in the pre-Covid world, I don’t think I could get this surgery while maintaining my normal in person work schedule. I am now six weeks post, and while I look pretty good relaxed, I do look a little bizarre when talking, and should you make me spontaneously laugh my smile is very awkward.
Dr. Kim is so meticulous, and I can already tell that this lip shape is so natural and perfect for me. He is a master.
