First Time Lip Filler for 26 Year Old Male -- 1 ML Juvederm Ultra
I've wanted to try out fillers for a while now. Initially I was interested in tear trough fillers for very sunken and pigmented under eyes but decided from reading reviews and seeing B&As that the results weren't worth $500+ for me when I'm happy to just use color correcting and concealer. I still found filler very interesting and enticing and have had an on/off desire to get some in my lips that resulted in me caving for them on 4/30/2019! I saw Tracy Giordano at Pure Aesthetics in Gainesville, FL and had the most amazing experience.
I was pretty happy with the shape and general size of my lips before, but wanted some more volume in the upper lip, hoping to get a 1:1 ratio of upper to bottom lip. I would say that before, my upper lip was 1/3 the volume of my lower, and would tend to disappear when I smiled. When I met with Tracy, I told her that I wanted to juice up my top lip, but was afraid of getting that duck-face look with a puffy and raised vermillion border. She was very respectful of my desires, and would stop very often while injecting to examine the progress and to allow me to look in the mirror and assess it myself. She constantly explained what she was doing, where she was injecting and why, and asked me if I wanted to look or if I had questions. She used a topical anesthetic cream that was composed of three different local anesthetics, and it left my lips so incredibly numb that I could barely feel the needle infiltrating my lips. Less painful than a blood draw or flu shot for me.
I bought 1 mL syringe of Juvederm and had 0.3 mL injected into my upper lip on the first day. I was happy with the volume but felt like I could go bigger, so I went back a week later to have the rest injected. I ultimately ended up with 0.6 mL in my upper lip, 0.3 in my bottom, and 0.1 injected into the perimeter of my undereye to feather the space up a bit. I paid $600 for a 1 mL, but could have done 0.5 mL for $400.
As I'm writing this, it's been 2.5 weeks since the first injection, and about a week since I received the remaining volume of my syringe. I am SO HAPPY with my results, and would definitely have the procedure done again in the future. I did not seem to have significant swelling, but I did have bruising around the edges that is slowly but surely fading. My lips were a bit tender and lumpy for a couple of days, but feel very natural, smooth, and soft at this point in time. I was so incredibly pleased by my experience at Pure Aesthetics with Tracy that I have referred a friend there already who is also very happy with her results.
The photos that I'm uploading span a number of days after my injections, so hopefully seeing them change over time will be helpful for some of you. I took my lip close-ups in the same spot of my house, with the same lighting, and attempting very hard to get the same angle (using my nose as a reference point). Let me know if anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns!
