I went in with my work spouse to see Dr. David for a deal on Dysport. Suddenly I'm getting my lips filled with Restylane Silk! So glad I did. I love them! I had Dysport done the same day (easy breezy) but I found the lip injections to be more painful than expected. Dr. David uses the blunt cannula method of injection which is supposed to be less painful and result in no bruising. Apparently I was one of the more difficult patients (? scar tissue in upper lip making it harder to thread the cannula through). I did get a small amount of bruising to the lower left corner of my mouth, nothing major. The swelling was definitely more than I expected. I hadn't really done any research into this procedure to know what to expect. After applying ice, the swelling went down considerably and as of today (day 4 post), I am very pleased with the results.

I had my lips done last night and she warned me I would swell. I didn't too much when I had them done with Juviderm, so of course I didn't believe her. OMG I had to call in sick today!!!! My lips looked like yours did!! Thank you for letting me know they do go down!! WHEW!!!!!

Just put some ice on them and they will go down very quickly. There is no way I would've gone into work looking like I did the morning after. Ha ha! Glad you were able to call in. You will love your lips by tomorrow!

My swelling and bruising on the lips was very bad then I dix mine but I knew what to expect. Have a look at my lip review for pictures. It took 2 days of insane swelling and a couple of more days of flaking on the lips and then the last bruise was all gone on day 7. Now I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I did Restylane Lip though and not Silk

I did the Silk. I also had the flaking. Swelling above my top lip in between my nose had people at work asking if I was ok. No one knows I did or do what I do. Need to keep it that way. Day 4 now, and I think it's going to be ok!!!

Wow, you look fantastic, thank you for sharing! How much of the Restylane did you get? Did you use any numbing cream?

December 11, 2015
Thank you! I had numbing cream in the corners of my mouth where the cannula is inserted. When it was being threaded through my upper lip, it hurt pretty bad (not when it was inserted) but when the cannula hit some connective tissue or scar tissue and he had to forcefully push it through those areas. The bottom lip didn't hurt at all. I had a face plant injury years ago (lost half a front tooth and had a big fat upper lip) so probably had scar tissue in there. He used 1 syringe. I'm tempted to get just a little more in the upper lip to make my cupid's bow a little more pronounced. My hubs thinks I'm crazy. ;-)

It's been just over 4 weeks since getting plumped. Maybe I'm used to them, but I feel like they should be a little bit bigger. Am I crazy? And I feel like the left upper lip looks slightly smaller than the right side. I can still feel little lumps on the inside of my upper left lip. I thought those would have resolved by now, they certainly did on the right. Hmmmm.....

I wish there were pictures to see!! Anyway I just had mine done 3 days ago - now that the swelling has settled and the bruising is healing, I also wish we'd gone a bit bigger. Next fill. LOL So the answer is - no, you're not crazy.

Definitely NOT worth it!

Just wanted to say that my initial review was done within a week of having Juvaderm when I was very happy with the results. However, within weeks of paying $500 for my lips, they were deflated and back down to normal. I am still left with a small hard bump inside the lateral aspect of my lip but all the fullness I had was gone after a few weeks. I would never have this done again as I found it to be a complete waste of money. Perhaps I'm just one of the unlucky ones that absorbs the product rapidly, I don't know. I contacted the office where I had it done and they never called me back so I let it go. Oh well, live and learn.

I'm confused. I thought you did Restylane??? Not Juvederm.
June 5, 2016
You are correct. I realized the mistake but this site doesn't let you edit anything once posted. Didn't think anyone would catch it.
June 5, 2016
I feel the same. Juvederm long term is MUCH better without the huge lips the next day afterwards.
June 5, 2016
That's good to know. Maybe I'll try that because I really loved the look.

Use ice and arnica cream on ur lips the night after u get Juvederm as much as u can and the next morning they may b a little swollen still but NOTHING like Restylane.
June 6, 2016
And long term, lasts way longer. I can go a year with one tube of Juvederm
