3 Weeks Post-Op

It's been a little over 3 weeks and I finally have my tape off. Happy is an understatement!

Wound is healing! Yay!

I saw my doctor on Friday and got the rest of my stitches removed. My wound is healing fast and is way smaller than it seemed. The surrounding area was so red and inflamed from a low grade infection that it made it look way worse than it was. I just finished my antibiotic and will keep the area covered with gauze and antibiotic ointment until it heals which should be about another week or so according to my doctor. He and his nurse did not seem worried at all and it is pretty common to have some delayed healing at the t incision. I have steristrips on again and as soon as they fall off I can start scar treatment everywhere but on the wound. I have Biocorneum for night and Scar Away strips for daytime that I will start. I am feeling so much better and I can tell my breasts are dropping and rounding day by day. I will say that it is so important to keep in close contact with your surgeon and follow his/her directions. I feel that taking the antibiotics and following his care instructions closely really helped speed up the healing and kept things under control. I have started lifting my 30 lb 20 month old again but I am super careful and take it easy when I can.

13 days post-op, open wound

So, last Friday when my steri strips were changed at my surgeon's office we noticed that I have an opening at my t incision below my nipple. It was pretty small so my doctor advised to keep it covered with antibiotic ointment and a bandaid and it should heal quickly. Well, yesterday I noticed that it was getting larger and today even larger. I phoned my doctor this morning because I don't go back until Friday. I am now on antibiotics and will follow up with the office tomorrow. I am so freaked out and upset right now. It's not my doctor's fault or mine from what I understand. Just bad blood flow and bad luck. I don't smoke and am super healthy. I just want to cry when I look at my right breast. If it gets any bigger, I will be devastated. I have two young kids and help but I am scared to do anything. Thanks for listening to me vent!
