Kybella Made a Small Problem a HUGE Problem

About a year ago I decided to get Kybella. Kybella is an injectable that came onto the market that is a surgery-free solution for removing fat cells. Its mainly marketed for double chins, which was something I was trying to get rid of. At 122 pounds, I have always had a double chin from the side and I finally took the leap to get rid of it.

I was told that it could take anywhere from 2-6 treatments with injectables, with fat elimination happening over a few months at a time until you get the result you want.
None of that was an issue and as I have had a tummy tuck in the past, I knew that patience to see results was going to be paramount.

I researched a good doctor, or atleast one with a solid reputation on surgery websites, etc. and set up an appt. After speaking with the office, I decided to move forward with Kybella as a nonsurgical solution to removing the fat pad under my chin that drives me nuts.

The first injection set went fine. It didn't really do too much, but that was to be expected. 30 days later, I did the 2nd set of injections and that is where it went wrong. After about 3 months, I noticed that my skin on my neck was caving in. The injectables are set up in a grid to remove fat evenly but my neck began removing fat in odd spots and to cause insult to injury, my double chin was still there.

It aged me probably 10 years overnight on my neck.

I called the office I did kybella with and sent over pictures to their email and the office manager was REALLY rude to me. She kept cutting me off on the phone and saying I needed more injections to get results (at $1200 a pop) even though I was stressing that it was NOT the double chin at this point, that the injections were causing wrinkles. She then tried to tell me that I was probably gonna need skin tightening and that I must have had a lot of fat on my neck ( i didnt). I asked to see the plastic surgeon to discuss other options and she said that he didnt need to see me for her to tell me his opinion.

At that point I found a new doctor.

In December I went to a new doctor and I instantly really liked him. Last Monday I went in and had old fashioned lipo done on my chin ( to remove the fat pat) and my neck to attempt to even the situation out with Kybella. THe new doctor did a gerat job trying to even out the skin where the kybella injects had left it crepy and uneven. I am only post op about 3 weeks so time will still tell.

I wrote this big embarrassing story to tell you to be super careful with injectables. I did a ton of research and they all have disclaimers on "varying results" but I couldnt find a lot of things that show cased what happened to me.
