+ the english costumer service (Pichet) is always available (if somebody doesn't understand what you're saying, they will always call Pichet and he always answers his phone and is able to help) and always very nice.
+ all the costs are made clear before and paid before, so there should be no surprising costs
- the nurses on the 3rd floor cannot speak English so well, which left my questions most of the time unanswered
+ everybody is really nice and tries to help
- Dr. Kamol is rarely there
+ nice hotel and hospital rooms
+ my partner could always stay with me (in the hospital as well as the hotel, even came with me to the operating theater and was allowed to see me in the resting room directly after the surgery)
+ anaethetics were really good, I didn't even notice when I fell asleep and also waking up wasn't uncomfortable (I had a different experience on an earlier op)
+ katheter and breathing tube weren't uncomfortable
+ Waking up after surgery I felt very cold, but as soon as I could make myself understood, I got extra covers and the nurse made sure I felt warm. I also got an extra pillow.
Remark: It was very beneficial to have my partner there, so I could tell him, what I needed, since after surgery, you might not be able to talk too loud or even remember to talk English.
+ I'm vegetarian and I got extra vegetarian food (I could even choose, what to eat for lunch and dinner)
+ There are a lot of trans*people in the hospital
+ around the hospital are a lot of supermarkets, restaurants and food stalls
+ the staff will help you get food, even if you are in the hotel
+ airport pickup service went well, the driver was really nice
+ all over not a lot of pain, I didn't take a lot of painkillers
Two weeks post-op:
+ the scars look good, but
- both nipples aren't healed yet (still bleeding, still scab on the nipples). That left me nervous, because I'm leaving the country 15 days after the surgery. I have to clean the nipples myself at home.
+ For that I got all the material needed from the nurses. And a lot explanations :)
+ only tissue healing pain (like itching of scars and stinging in the nipples)
- I sometimes didn't feel well informed, due to language issues
Remark: If you feel nervous about your wounds or pain you feel or anything, don't let yourself be discouraged from not being able to communicate so well. Try to find a nurse, who can speak English or try to get your interpreter to ask the nurses everything you want to know.
