Juvederm Vollure Lip Filler - uneven and lumpy results

UPDATED FROM LaurenH96
6 months post

2nd opinion with different doctor

$795
So after 6 months my lips were still pretty uneven where he had injected the filler. The lumps took months to smooth out. Still very uneven on bottom lip so I went to CAPS for another consultation but with a different physician Dr. Heck. He did note the asymmetry and offered to fix it. I feel like Dr. Heck took more time to really look at the symmetry and fill in where it needed to be fixed as well as other flat spots on my upper lip that I had not noted before and used the filler to line my lips a little better. Dr. Wakelin was nice but I feel like he rushed and didn't really talk it through like Dr. Heck.

After getting the second syringe back in June my results are now what I am happy with. No longer have asymmetry or lumps, I took arnica tablets and used arnica gel the second time around and hardly bruised and was a lot less painful than the first time around.

Yes this is after my second syringe where they evened out the filler on my lips. Now they look really good! Thank you.

ORIGINAL POST

Juvederm Volbella Lip Filler

I went in for a consultation and Dr. Wakelin was very professional and answered all my questions I had for him. He explained he does not use any numbing creams, since he finds using ice to numb works just as well. I would agree, I have a pretty low pain tolerance and it did not hurt that bad at all. Getting numbing injections in your mouth (based on dental appointments) hurts worse that the filler does. It was a very quick appointment, the whole thing took less that 10 minutes for sure. My concerns with my lips was that my bottom lip was slightly smaller than my top lip, and I wanted a more even/fuller lip. We decided to go with 1 syringe of Juvederm Volbella, Dr. Wakelin suggested this because of its softer appearance and he said this one last longer, up to 18 months. Most of the filler went to my bottom lip, with just a small amount on my top lip.
I went home and didn’t really start to swell until ~2 hrs after I got the filler. I used ice to help with swelling. Bruising started a few hours later. The right half of my lips swelled and bruised pretty bad initially, which lasted a few days and was completely gone within a week. I used aquaphore to help moisturize the lips which helped a lot and I used pretty frequently.
1 week after the swelling and bruising was gone, and I noticed the asymmetry and lumps. On my bottom lip the left side was fuller than my right side, and the left side did have lumps on the upper and lower lip. I started to compress and massage gently, which helped soften them but to date the lumps are still there, but not as noticeable.
7 weeks later, lumps are less noticeable and lips are doing good. When I smile (mouth open or closed) you can’t really tell they are asymmetrical, but with my mouth at rest you can see one side of my bottom lip is larger. I will be going back to Dr. Wakelin at some point to have more filler to even out the bottom lip and add some more volume.
Would give 5 stars, I really liked the doctor and the CAPS office! But the lips didn’t come out a 5/5, hopefully when I go back for a touch up they will be able to make them look more symmetrical at rest :) other than that I absolutely love them and get compliments all the time.

What was the cost.
I don't have the receipt but by looking at my banking statement in January I believe it was $730. I know for sure for him I paid over $700.
After re-reading this post I realize I said we used Juvederm Volbella but we used Juvederm Vollure, my bad!
Some times you need additional filler in order to make it even. I think your doctor did a good job, it looks very good.
