Traumatic & Life Altering
In early June 2018, I saw Dr. Maercks for his “facial rebalancing“ to correct fat injections I had 2 1/2 before that made my face asymmetrical and bottom heavy. Halfway through the procedure he said more Juvederm was required to get the desired result. He stopped right then, during the procedure, to run my credit card a second time. The total cost was a whopping $25,000. After injecting my face with 21 syringes of Juvederm, my face was severely distorted. My eye sockets were pulled away from my eyeballs and I was unable to see. I had lumps and bumps everywhere. My formerly full lips were made thinner and pushed down into a frown at the corners. My brow exaggerated with the appearance of an orangutan. The severity of these deformities made me ashamed, embarrassed and depressed. Confined to my home, I could no longer enjoy outdoor activities I once relished. Out of pain, shame and embarrassment I cancelled a long planned family reunion trip, costing me even more money. Because of he overfill to my temples, I had chronic headaches and the simple act of eating, so painful, I lost almost 20 pounds. Since my experience with Dr. Maercks, I have seen at least a half dozen doctors. Both cosmetic dermatologist and plastic surgeon’s. I have spent thousands of dollars removing the Juvederm from my face and that too comes at a tremendous cost. All of the excess filler caused my skin to stretch and now I look like a shrunken head. I will require a facelift to correct the damage and that will be thousands and thousands more. This doctor is not insured. Something I wasn’t aware of at the time, since the notice is posted in the “waiting room” where I was for about three seconds before being shown to an interior “waiting room.” I have learned quite a few things from this experience. Every doctor I’ve spoken to said they wouldn’t inject a patient with 10 syringes in an entire year. This knowledge has left me with the distinct impression that the good outcome of my procedure was not the motivating factor.
