1 year update

Ok you guys, here it is, my 1 year and final post.

I've pretty much covered everything there is to cover in the mean time, but I'll try to do a basic overview for those of you who aren't into reading the novel's worth of information I've written.

Am I happy with my surgery? Absolutely. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm undoubtedly better looking than before by a pretty wide margin and that's made me a lot happier with my life. The halo effect is a real thing and that's probably helped with my happiness as well. If you don't know what that is, it's basically that people treat you better and think better of you if you're prettier.

Some things I got right:
-My doctor. I researched this forever and you cannot do better than the one I'm reviewing imo.
-I traveled by myself. I would have been super annoyed being in recovery and someone watching me the whole time, but also going out and basically having a vacation without me.
-Went through airbnb for my accommodations. They're super cheap and crazy nice in South Korea.
-Went in the winter. First week of December and the last 3 weeks of January are the cheapest times for air travel. I plan on going back for a legit vacation in the summer since it's beautiful there, but with everything else, a lower price was more practical.
-Planned everything *way* in advance. I had everything booked 3 months in advance. As a result everything went super smoothly and I had tons of time to research and plan.
-Had a google fi phone. Everyone knows sim cards and all of that nonsense is super stress inducing. If you've got a compatible phone or the money to buy one, I'd switch because they have service all over the world for domestic rates.
-Reviewed on here. It was a part of my discount deal, but I was going to do it anyways and even if you don't, having "before" photos as well as progression pictures is super reassuring. It's also just kind of nice to help out others who found my review. There's not a ton of information from people who have actually got the surgery out there and a lot of people have questions. I was one of those people. If you're reading this you've benefited. If you wind up getting it done, pass along the good karma and help out others so there's more information out there and people can make better informed decisions.
-I followed the instructions my doctors gave me. I can't stress this enough. I did everything they said might even remotely help. Don't mess up your giant investment, take care of it. There are some crazy horror stories out there. Don't let that be you.

Things I did wrong or could have done better:
-For the love of god, never get your eyebrows tattooed or whichever of the 30 names they call it. It looks so much nicer than the photos are showing because the person who did mine decided to take inspiration from Neanderthals that day. They overwhelm my face which is actually ultra delicate now. It messed up the whole aesthetic. They take 3 years to wear off, but I'm trying to speed it up with everything they tell you will fade it. I know it has very little to do with this, but I'm just saying.
-Research into aftercare and potential outcomes. Basic lowdown is if you have a ton of something taken off, like in my case where I had a massive jaw, you might wind up with some sagging skin under it. Especially if you're *of a certain age*, which I am about to enter. If you care enough to get the surgery, you should care enough to accept this might happen and put the work into fixing it. I've done most of the work by finding a solution. I took way too long to start because it slowly becomes apparent after about 3 months when all the swelling is gone.

Heads up, the first 3 months is when you're going to look the best and youngest you've ever looked, so go crazy with selfies. After 3 months, any sagging you're going to get is going to show. I tested a bunch of stuff, microneedling works to take care of this. I did it myself so I babied my way into it starting with a 0.25mm needle biweekly for months and then a 0.5mm biweekly at best for a few more months and then made it up to a 1.0 mm needle. This is going to give you the fastest results and I would just start doing this biweekly if I had to do it all over again. Will 100% fix the problem if you keep up with it. Bonus points is it evens your skin tone and shrinks your pores, so total win. But also, I've had and researched these things forever, so totally go see a professional. They can also go to deeper levels safely which will probably get you even better results. If you've heard of a vampire facial, it's that.

And for a basic overview, that's pretty much it. Do your research, consider carefully and do what works for you. I wish you all a happy journey!

October Update

All is essentially the same as my last update with the exception of the fact that I recently tried using a 1 mm with my skin tightening maintenance needling and that I used it on the back of my neck as well as the front and all over my jawline and cheeks. I feel like it definitely helped take care of some of the extra skin that had become pretty visible around my neck. I actually felt like my neck looked thinner afterwards. It also did seem to help spread some of the extra skin right under my chin out a bit.

Still happy with my results and will keep needling and report back next month :).

September update

I figured this month I would try to get some photos in actual sunlight since the ones in my apartment always come out a little bit wonky.

I'm still keeping up with my micro needing to firm up my skin in the area, though I think I put in one of my previous updates that I was using a vitamin c serum with that. Don't do that. I recently came across some information that doing that could be dangerous because your body doesn't know how to process it when put directly into the skin so now my method is just putting on my favorite face lotion and using hyaluronic acid on whichever part I'm needling to help it slide at a 0.5 mm depth.

I'm still seeing results from doing this roughly once every two weeks, but I was starting to notice that the front of my neck was looking much nicer and less wrinkled than the back, so I've now started needling that with a 1 mm needle (the skin is thicker there) to try and help even it out. Still a ways to go on that score to get it as tight as I would like it, but I'm still happy with my results and in the mean time my pores are looking noticeably better all the time from it's use, so I'm taking it as an overall win.

Besides that not much has changed. Will be back with another update for October later.
