So, I had the surgery a week ago. After the surgery I was disappointed with how small my nipples looked. My sister has smallish nipples so I was thinking it was a family thing?

Well, I got the stitches out 2 days ago and my nipples seem to be getting flat sometimes... I'm getting very worried. I keep telling myself that they are healing and to give it time. Maybe I have swelling around the area that's making it like that?

Has anyone had this happen?
Any advice?:(

At first the nipples were really out.
As weeks turned into months they are just a little out. Doc said its normal. They are not completely in like they were. I'm happy but I expected more.

Agree with you. I’d expect them to be more “out”

How are they now? Sometimes the nipple will go flat after surgery. If so, I e heard the surgeon can add some fat under the nipple to bring it out.

My Dr basically said that if you have a small nipple to start with, they weren't going to be able to pull out a huge nipple. My nipples did appear when cold etc so I had a good idea what to expect but my bandages are still on so time will tell. They looked pretty good 1 week out and I hope they stay that way. My Dr also put something between the nipple and the milk ducts to prevent them from re-inverting. It was a couple hundred dollars more but worth it to me not to have that happen and have to go through the surgery again. I would call my Dr in a heartbeat if I wasn't happy with the result and I feel sure she would make it right. If you aren't happy, you should tell your Dr and give them the opportunity to fix them. Best of luck!!

Let me add to this, I finally took the bandages off two weeks after having the surgery and what a disappointment!! One is flat, no protrusion whatsoever and both have sizeable divets. When she showed them to me right after the surgery they were great; I have no idea what happened. I paid extra to have this special material put between the nipple so it couldn't reattach; I thought there was no way this could happen. I'm beyond upset. I have waited a very long time for a surgery or a "fix" to be available and here I get so close only to end up where I started.

I sent the Dr an email and got a phone call on Tuesday saying she'd call as soon as she had a moment. That was yesterday and there was no call today. I really don't know what to think; I was very neutral in my email explaining the situation and how disappointed I was without blaming anyone. I know this happens and I would accept I'd have to do it again had it just been the surgery but here's the thing: she quoted me a price for the surgery ($1,000) then said there was this miraculous substance she could use that would prevent this from happening. I paid an extra $200 to get the substance because I wanted to absolutely sure it would work. I was guaranteed this would not be an issue. This is the part that worries me most; why didn't it work? This was not supposed to happen. Anyone have an opinions, thoughts, comments? I'm really bummed out and don't know what I should do next. If it was due to an error on the part of the Dr, I don't really want her doing another surgery on me. At the same time, she should fix it as I paid the extra to guarantee it would work....if it is fixable.
Another question...after you had the surgery, how long did it take you to heal completely?? Its been over two weeks and I still have a couple of stitches that haven't dissolved and I have hard ridges surrounded my nipples, is this normal?!!
