Always been a chubby little kid, but it was never a huge problem until I turned 14. Started gaining weight rapidly and by 18 I was 342 pounds. The summer before University, had a moment of clarity as if I could finally see the life ahead of me if I didn't change. Worked out + dieted (Atkins) with my best friend who was also overweight and we both lost a ton of weight. By 19 i was 260 and by 20, 220. Continued losing weight, reaching my lowest weight of 204 by 21, but that was through some crazy diets (hell, i was a vegan for 8 months!!) after tons of plateaus, so the weight came back and after adding in some weight training, finally stabilized at 220 +/- 5 pounds in a week. Held that for a couple years and finally decided it was time to get rid of the loose skin and start to feel more like the skinny guy i felt was trapped inside.
Really my family cheered me on and led this. I am in Grad school, so i couldn't take the time to do much research. Left Grad school on the 11th of December, met with Dr. Yarish on the 12th of December and was in Surgery on the 17th of December.

Day 1-4 a blur
ncarson3January 7, 2015
So arrived at 6:30 AM on a Wednesday and was the only surgery of the day. Was put in some hospital boxers and then got drawn on. Dr. Yarish said he would do a bunch of Lipo to make sure everything was contoured properly. Was led across the hall and laid on something similar to a crucifix where I laid down and the Anesthesiologist immediately put a mask on me and said count back and dream something good.
Woke up at 11:30 and was given animal crackers and a sprite. They said the operation was great and all went well. Couldn't feel much and was generally in a bit of a daze. Decided to recover at home, so was discharged and penguin walked my way to the car where I was driven home.
Thankfully I had set everything up and had a power lift recliner ready to go with a waterproof blanket over it. As soon as i got back, I gently went into the chair and slept. They want you to do deep breaths/coughs (no way!) to help remove the anesthesia drugs, so when i was awake i was doing deep breaths, protein shakes/green shakes, pills and then back to sleep. it was that way for the first two or three days, and honestly they became a bit of a blur with the drugs and sleeping. From looking back, the only thing i would add was a seat pad with a tailbone cut-out as that was the only discomfort i had.
The first 4 days I was extremely light headed, almost fainted getting up from the restroom the first time, took a cold towel and lots of water to bring the color back to my face. My only tip would be drink... then drink more... and just when you are sick of it, drink some more. After i drank 5 cups of water in 10 minutes, i felt nauseous, but the light headedness started going away.
