Houston Beware. Botched Primary Rhinoplasty.
I went in for a primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Siegel in 2019. During the consultation I told him I wanted a much smaller nose with a more feminine shape and smaller nostrils. I have never had any breathing issues so this surgery was strictly for cosmetic reasons. I also mentioned a double chin and I asked about kybella. He said due to my age kybella wouldn’t work and recommended a neck lift. I’m only 36 but assumed he knew best.
Since the day my splint came off I’ve hated my nose. Other than my columella being shorter there was little to no change early on. The only change in my chin and neck were severe vertical bands which at that point he recommended kybella (seriously) and to loosen the bands.
Now over a year post op I have an over projected tip that has a hard piece of hanging cartilage, a collapse on the right side, a receding nostril and severe breathing issues that are getting worse.
After visiting multiple surgeons I was advised to request a copy of my surgery report and my medical records. When I first read the surgery report I didn’t think it was even mine. The report stated I was 23 (I’m 36) and that I came in with a crooked nose complaining of breathing issues. I have a signed and dated document from the day of my consultation where I stated I have zero nasal congestion or breathing issues. Dr. Siegel performed a septoplasty and added multiple graphs to my nose without my knowledge. To this day he has never mentioned any of this to me. I have a large hump on the side of my bridge that he continued to say was swelling that is in fact a graph.
There is ZERO mention of a neck lift, that I paid for, ever actually taking place in my surgical report. I have an unsightly incision under my chin which there is also no record of in my report. I’m horrified to find out what he did to me without my knowledge.
I haven’t gone to any appts with him since my 6 month post op. It is pointless. All he does is lie and make excuses or blame everything on swelling. He never takes responsibility for the things he has done.
Please do not let him perform surgery on you. Do your research and see how many other people he has botched. I cry almost daily and cringe when I look in the mirror. I have to get a difficult revision this year to fix my breathing issues and have been told to expect improvement but it is now unlikely I will ever get the cosmetic results I had dreamed of.
