Honest Review of RHINOPLASTY and REVISION RHINOPLASTY

I went to see Mark Solomos when I was 18 back in 2010 for a rhinoplasty. Looking back now, there definetely wasn't as many reviews and forums online to help me make my decision, and I was younger, hating my nose so rushing into finding a surgeon. At the time, a Harley Street surgeon was the best idea. I was very wrong. My surgery was simple, I had a hump from my radix and a generally bulbous arabic nose. After having my surgery, my nose look deformed. The hump no longer started at my radix but instead mid-way down my nose and still bulbous. After an open rhinoplasty, which is quite invasive, I couldn't understand how this had happened. I was quite worried for some time as my friends would keep asking 'is that what it should look like?'. After around a year, which is when your nose should start to show more final results, I returned to Mark Solomos expressing my concerns - of which he offered a revision rhinoplasty. Hindsight is a beautiful thing - why would I have a revision with the person who made my nose look like this in the first place?! Well at the time, I hated how my nose had turned out and a free revision instead of spending another £5k seemed like a good option.
Unfortunately, the revision did not help but made things worse. From my revision in 2011 I was left with a pinched nose (where he removed too much cartilage), a deviated septum and a hanging columella. At this point however, 2 OPEN rhinoplasties later, I decided, enough is enough. This was going to be my nose to live with and I have to get over it.
It wasn't until 2019 when I attended the GP to say that my breathing was getting worse in the left side of my nose, with a feeling of obstruction. The GP immediately asked me if I had had a rhinoplasty as a pinched nose is a very clear sign of a botched nose job. Between my deviated septum, and my nose collapsing in on itself in the pinched area, I ended up going to see various ENTs and surgeons to get their opinion. I even went back to Mark Solomos to basically see what he'd have to say for himself ... he avoided the pinch altogether and instead recommended a septoplasty of £16k!!!
To be clear, I would never have another surgery with Mark Solomos, let alone one on my face that would give him £16k more of my money.
The overall advice from all of the ENTs and surgeons I saw was that my nose was botched. I didn't need to rush into another revision but eventually the pinch would get worse as there is no cartilage in that area of my nose to support the skin above.
Leaving this honest review as while Mark Solomos may be good in other areas of surgery, from my experience (TWICE!), he should avoid rhinoplasties altogether. Even from browsing his reviews now it seems the ones he has the lowest ratings on are rhinoplasties. For the positive rhinoplasty reviews, I am very happy for his clients and only wish I could have had the same result.
In the end, I have now had a revision with a surgeon in Turkey but have attached a photo of my nose from Mark Solomos' work. This is a table photo just before I was to have my second revision with another doctor.
