I got custom hip implants with Dr. Stanton on the 19th of June. So far I'm pretty happy with the results. The implants are pretty big, but I think that they're proportionate to my frame. I'll upload after pictures soon.

Hey, everyone :). Here are pictures! I'm a bit over a week post op and back home in Utah. I'm glad I took these pictures, because I was worried that the hip implants were WAY TOO BIG. I thought maybe I had a bit of a donkey butt going on with them. But after seeing the pictures, I'm pretty happy. I think they look proportionate and match my large frame.
Stats: 5'4", 165 pounds
Measurement around fullest part of hip--
Before: 41 inches, size 10 or so in stretch pants
After: 44 inches, still size 10 in pants if lots of stretch is involved. I think I'll start sizing up though.
Feeling of implants--
A little firm, but before I had the implants there really was not much fat in the area, so it basically feels the same. When my friend gets back from her trip, I might ask her to feel them and tell me what she thinks if I'm not too embarrassed.
Pain level--
It was pretty difficult to walk the first day after surgery, but after that it got a lot easier. I think I stopped taking the pain pills at a week post op, and I really don't feel like I need anything. I still can't sleep on my sides, but stomach sleeping isn't too bad.
General impression of Dr. Stanton and The Team--
Honest: Dr. Stanton was very clear about what was achievable.
Warm: Mindy, Vivian, and Kisha were kind and helped me feel comfortable. I felt really intimidated at first, but everyone was kind.
Available: Always ready to answer questions. Dr. Stanton calls you personally to make sure that you're recovering well after surgery. Unfortunately I missed his call, and then I was worried about calling back...talking on the phone anxiety :/.
Overall it was a good experience. I could tell that the whole team takes pride in their work and cares about their patients. Make sure you bring your insurance cards so that you don't need to pay too much for your prescriptions. Hope to update again soon!

You look great! How was your flight home?
On what day post op did you feel good to walk around/ leave hotel go eat?
User Avatar

Thank you :)! I actually drove to LA with my mom. She has a fear of flying.
I was able to walk alright and go out to eat on the third day post op. My mom and I went to the Santa Monica Pier, and I didn't really have any issues walking. I just needed to walk more slowly than normal.

thanks I’m happy to hear I’ve been wondering if I would be able to do any outing while recovering !

how does the incision look? are you using anything on the scar?

I think the incision should heal pretty well. I'm just using Mederma.

Hi! I am getting hip implants with dr stanton in august. NERVOUS. There arent many reviews on here. Can you sit/walk normal? My pre op is same day as surgery. Did he offer you different sizes?
June 29, 2019
I’m curious about the sizing as well. How did you get custom implants ? Did he order them or are they premade ? I

I was really nervous too. Everyone is nice though and they take care of you. I can sit and walk normally. Dr. Stanton didn't offer me different sizes, just the custom option. I guess I said I wanted big implants during the phone consultation, so I think he gave me the biggest ones he could based on my size.

I'm pretty sure that the custom implants are made to order.

Update with some questions answered

Hey, everyone :). I posted a picture where you can see how the scar looks on one of my hips. I have some Mederma gel, so I've just been applying that once a day.

Can I sit and walk--
I can sit and walk completely normally. I'm happy that I can sit cross-legged without the implants shifting or hurting. At this point, I can walk normally and jog. I don't want to try running yet.

Sizing--
Dr. Stanton didn't offer me sizing options. He picked the implant size based on the pictures that I sent him. After I spoke with him on the phone, Mindy sent me an email with pricing for custom hip implants. I also needed to pay a $3,000 deposit, so that the office could order the implants. I think they're made to order.

Butt implants--
I only got hip implants. I thought about getting butt implants too, and initially I wanted them. I might go back next year to get them. Still debating.

Ooh now i see your answer about sizing. I just wish i had at least a few options when i got there.....

I am planning my surgery with dr.javaheri
For my implants I have to buy a measuring tape and measure down my hip and the width in a photo. So he can tell how long and wide my implant needs to me, then the projection is up to me.
I think Stanton is small med large . Ask him the dimensions of each implant size to help you pick better

Do you know if they’re going to go through a “dropping” stage? Similar to how butt & boob implants are? I know there’s less muscle & fat in your hip area butttttt lemme know lol
User Avatar

I don't if they've gone through a dropping stage. The swelling has definitely gone down a ton, and the implants are soft. I can't really even feel them.

Oh & I saw another review and she had drains. Did you have drains?? Could you share a pic where we can see your actual skin to see the results a little better?
User Avatar

I didn't have drains. I think Stanton uses drains on patients who are having revision surgery.
