Provider Review
I have a mixed review about Dr Hankins. The most important thing Is that I'm happy with my results, and I'm beyond happy, I LOVE MY NEW BOOBS!! Dr Hankins did a wonderful job, a previous dr told me because my beasts are naturally further apart, so would my implants, but dr Hankins explained that there are different methods during surgery he can do to get me the look I wanted, high, full, lots of cleavage. I had done a lot of research about surgery before hand and was set on going under the muscle because I have done body building in the past and my breast shrink to nothing. If I ever decide to lean out again I wouldn't want the implants to show. Dr Hankins strongly suggested that I go OVER due to the breast tissue I have and the fact that I work out. He warned me that certain exercises would move the implant and eventually stretching the pocket out and my breast moving further apart. We discussed this for a while but I still decided that I'd rather go under the muscle and edit workouts vs worry of the implants showing if I were to lean out again. The assistant than helped me pick sizes. I have two different size breasts so at the previous consult I liked 500 and 480. So at this consult I stated with larger implants, then went down to 480 & 500. This is the size I decided on. Luckily they had a cancellation 5 days from my consult so I booked that day. All the admin staff Susan and her new assistant were so so sweet. Surgery day: I am prepped and ready and dr Hankins comes, "okay so we are going over the muscle" I stopped him and said I wanted under. He argued with me and insisted I agreed to over. Obviously, there was a mix up, but I was frustrated that he insisted I agreed to over. I have been wanting this surgery for years, have done my research and always wanted under. He then walks away to check notes. And there's a nurse I have never met telling me that I'll be unhappy if I go under, she was very aggressive, "I'm not saying you have to go over" but really how passionately she spoke about going over always looks better, and she's seen hundreds of surgeries, and I won't like where my nipple is if I go under. I said, "well everything you're saying is the complete opposite of everything I've researched, I thought going under looked more natural" she replied "more natural??! Your breast tissue sits above the muscle not under it!!" Her demeanor was very intimidating, pushy and unprofessional. She walked away and two other nurses calmly talked to me about it. One mentioned that I have young and elastic skin in comparison to her, almost age 50, so my skin will naturally hid implants better. My best friend also has implants, she went under the muscle so she mentioned she isn't the happiest about her nipple placement which is what that nurse told me, over will let my nipple sit better than under. So, as set as I was on going under the muscle I changed my mind right before going into the OR. When Hankins marked my chest, he marked 525...definitely not the size I chose. I didn't say anything because I knew if I didn't want that size I wouldn't be getting surgery that day. I also was not consulted on my preferred incision site. In summary I am very very happy with the look of my breasts, even tho I went over the muscle and received larger implants than I agreed too. Hankins is a skilled surgeon but the mix up of EVERYTHING with my surgery is a little alarming. Thankful it all worked out for the best.
