Goodbye Jowls

I am not easily impressed nor entirely swayed by gushing and complimentary reports. However after tentatively looking for 10 years for a reliable surgeon to correct the drooping lower half of my face and chancing upon this website, I came across Dominic. I already had 2 surgeons in mind, one rather famous but after reading his reviews crossed his name off immediately. So it was a toss up between another surgeon and Dominic. I wanted someone who specialised in faces only. I don't have lots of spare money, so I felt this procedure would be a one-off and I did not want to make a mistake. I booked to see Dominic, met him, liked his approach and trusted him (VERY IMPORTANT), I did not in the end see anyone else. It was not plain sailing for me, because last March I was booked to have the procedure, unfortunately, as I have white coat syndrome, after being gowned up etc. the op had to be postponed because my BP soared.... my daughter had accompanied me as my husband had ruptured his achilles tendon and could not walk, I had booked into the hotel already etc. Dominic and staff were all very supportive and disappointed for me and we re-scheduled for 6 months down the line when my BP had stabilised, which it did the moment I was out of his office!!! Roll on September, husband out of air-boot, so he came along with me this time. Gowned up again, touch and go whether I could have this procedure as the same thing happened again. The wonderfully calm and supportive anesthetist gave me time to 'sort myself out' and gradually my BP came down enough so then procedure could go ahead. Can't remember much except saying a couple of times 'How is it going'. Took a taxi back to the hotel and then ice,ice,ice. Dominic came by later that eve to take my BP (perfectly ok) and arrange my pillows. Walked to Harley St next morning to be checked out and have my hair washed by fantastic Lucy. My husband and I came back on the tube while my face was swathed in a scarf to hide a bit of bruising and the face bra! First couple of days I was rather sore and my face looked like a triangle with the swelling and bruising. I think trying to sleep propped up was the most trying part of this experience. After a week went back for a check, all well, husband and I had lunch at a nearby pub after seeing Dominic, scarf suitably draped! No-one except my daughter and husband were told about this procedure and I kept a scarf on even indoors in case neighbours caught a glimpse. Five months down the line I have almost forgotton it happened except I now have my jawline back and am very grateful for it. My eagle eyed sister did not twig when I visited her just before Christmas. Oddly enough I get a bit disappointed when people don't say 'You look well' but you know, people do forget what you looked like before and it is a compliment to Dominic because I have the photos to remind me that a great improvement has taken place. I only wish I had had my upper eyes done at the same time!! So I made a great choice, how grateful am I. I have used Scar Away a silicone plaster to help with the cut under my chin and now it is hardly noticeable. Dominic says it was not really necessary and he is probably right. I was a youngish looking 69 when I set out on this journey. I hope it is not stretching the imagination to say I could probably pass for for 15 years younger. Dominic is a talented surgeon and he has a great team and what is more, they are good people.
